Position: Head of Finance
Location: Glasgow, Head Office
Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Purpose of Role:
As the Head of Finance, you will work in conjunction with the board and fellow senior management to contribute to the overall success of the business and the achievement of the business objectives and results.
You will have responsibility for the monthly Management Accounts production including all month end journals and reconciliations. Submission and completion of planning documents to the SSC. This incorporates full responsibility for for the production of the monthly VAT Returns & Intrastat submissions. Support of Accounts Payable and Receivable functions. Additional ad hoc reporting requirements as required (including areas on cost, cash flow, balance sheet and forecasting)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce monthly Profit and Loss statements
  • Compare actual vs. forecast
  • Support Financial Accounting function to ensure a timely and accurate month end result
  • Provide reactive and proactive support
  • Prepare Month end reporting pack
  • Build detailed Profit and Loss accounts for each department
  • Highly detailed forecasting, planning and analysis of all business channels
  • Seek relevant and valid input from other departments e.g. cost drivers and key non-financial data
  • Push forecasting and planning through system
  • Build spreadsheets
  • Secure approval from Managing Director
  • Key into local accounting system, Group D365 and Group COPSY
  • Check data
  • Liaise with Ireland and Hamburg to ensure data is correct
  • Control payments to suppliers in conjunction with the SSC Hamburg to ensure timely and accurate payment.
  • Responsible for Conduct quarterly VAT returns
  • Complete and send off intrastat returns in conjunction with SSC Hamburg
  • Ensure all master data changes are made to support this
  • All other UK controlled accounts e.g. VAT


Experience

Essential

  • Experience gained in an FMCG or similar B2B company
  • Previous Team Leader with strong people management skills


Desirable:

  • Previous position in a subsidiary of an international corporate organisation
  • Experience in a Senior Finance role


Skills / Knowledge

Essential:

  • CIMA/ACA/ACCA qualified
  • Competent in all Microsoft Office packages, specifically Excel to an advanced level
  • Excellent communication skills for presentation of information both verbally and in written format
  • People management with focus on successfully co-ordinating the work of others alongside own workload and motivating the team
  • Attention to detail to evidence accuracy in all work produced and complete/follow through on all tasks of the team and aid remote working
  • Commercial acumen to maintain up-to-date specialist and market knowledge to enhance credibility and assist influencing ability

  • Corporate Legal Training

Job Description

The role, Head of Finance… a role where you will be at the heart of an extremely successful business based in West Bridgford, Nottingham.

You’ll be driving process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. This role requires strong financial modelling expertise and advanced system skills to optimise reporting and provide actionable insights. As a key business partner to non-financial stakeholders, the Head of Finance ensures clarity in financial communication, enabling informed decision-making across the organisation.

Key responsibilities include managing cashflow, producing accurate weekly and monthly cash reports and forecasts, reviewing management accounts, and board packs. The Head of Finance is tasked with improving reporting systems, providing financial insights, and supporting decision-making to achieve organisational goals.

The Opportunity…

  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and drive improvements across accounts, board packs, and statutory statements.
  • Deliver timely cash flow forecasts to support liquidity and business objectives.
  • Oversee payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and process efficiencies.
  • Provide financial reporting, budgets, and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Drive process improvements and optimise accounting systems for efficiency and growth.
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver insights and enhance performance.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, promoting a culture of learning and collaboration.

Be a strong advocate of analytics, developing a deep understanding of the business to make sure that analysis is embedded in everyday decision making. Draw meaningful insights and ideas from large data sets to support and improve business performance.

Your Experience…

  • ACCA / CIMA / ACA Qualified
  • Excellent excel and modelling skills
  • Developing the collation and reporting of data
  • Able to demonstrate evidence of working in a growing organisation with the ability to bridge the gap between finance and commercial teams
