Manpower Engineering are working in partnership with a global leader in the manufacture of paint and coating to help them recruit a Field Service Engineer to cover the Birmingham area

Working as a Field Service Engineer you will be managing your own diary, visiting clients to install, repair, service and or maintain paint mixing equipment on site.

This will involve, mechanical and electrical engineering and also installing or upgrading software on the machines.

If you like to manage your own time, be out on the road and work in a hands on role then this could be just the job for you.

About the role

This position is responsible for providing onsite service and support to customers. The postholder will act as a mobile field service engineer on assigned open tickets to resolve customer affecting technical issues and preventative maintenance in a timely fashion, to maintain maximum customer satisfaction. I am currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer to join my client’s growing business covering the Bournemouth, Bristol and Reading areas. The successful Field Service Engineer will travel to customer sites carrying out service, maintenance and installations on a range of mobile processing equipment.

Please note, although the role is working Monday to Friday 8am – 4.30pm, flexibility is needed to ensure work is completed to high standards, you will also be required to work away from home if needed, but this on average is no more than twice per month. Once trained, you will also join the call out rota which is currently 2 weeks every 10 week, in return you will receive additional payments and expenses paid.

Essential Criteria:

  • G3 Unvented Hot Water Qualification
  • Experience in working in the Plumbing and Heating industry
  • NVQ Level 2/3 or /City of Guilds equivalent Qualification for Plumbing and Heating
  • Physically fit to do the required job. A medical may be required
  • Hold a Clean Driving Licence and undertake a driving licence check
  • Have some experience working in a similar role/environment
  • IT literate especially on MS products and preferably in use of a PDA reporting system or service-based reporting package
  • Proven ability to fault find in a range of demanding environments

Knowledge & Experience –

·A sound technical maintenance knowledge within an automation environment

·A strong communicator and relationship builder with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

·Ability to interact effectively with people from different cultures and nationalities

·Proven Experience of working in a precision machine manufacturing environment

·Proven experience of fault finding with mechanical / automation machinery

·Sound knowledge of Health & Safety at work act and PUWER regulations

·Experience with Single Phase, Three Phase and DC circuits

·IT technical background with some commercial experience in a client / desktop support position.

· Sound understanding of electrical & mechanical components inclusive of pneumatics, AB servo components / control and PLC communication.

Technical Skills & Qualifications –

·Recognised Apprenticeship trained in Mechanical / Electrical engineering disciplines

·HNC (Desirable) BTEC / ONC / City & Guilds or equivalent in all relevant engineering disciplines

·Strong Electrical / Electronic and Mechanical aptitude in automation machinery (Mechatronics)

·Excellent communication skills

·Ability to read, interpret and understand technical schematic diagrams

·Understanding of PLC and electrical components and be able to competently fault find on different types of electrical circuits and software.

·Good working knowledge of MS Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

·Ability to develop solutions for production problems

· Ability to manage own priorities and adhere to deadlines

Pay: £40,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
