Grounds Maintenance Operative

Shift Times: 07:30-16:00 Monday – Friday 42.5 HPW
Pay Rate: £11.44ph
Location: HP19 8RS – Aylesbury

This is a temporary position with the possibility of going permanent

Manpower are looking for Grounds Maintenance Operatives to work for our client based out of Aylesbury. Working in this role you will be responsible for the delivery of a high-quality ground’s maintenance service to a range of clients throughout the local area. Working within a team you will be responsible for a range of activities from grass cutting, strimming, hedge pruning, flower bed maintenance too name a few. You will need to ensure a safe working environment is always maintained and carry out day to day maintenance and safety checks on all equipment.

The training offered includes on-the-job training and standard induction for best practice.

To succeed, you will need:

  • To be physically fit and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Hold a full valid UK Driving License
  • Willingness to learn & open to training.
  • Safety conscious mindset is key.
  • Capable of working safely using a range of equipment and hand tools (e.g. strimmer’s, backpack blowers, push mowers etc.)
  • Experience in working in a busy team and providing a high-quality service.
  • Experience in a similar Grounds Maintenance role is desirable.

Job Description

Mark Walker (Grounds Maintenance) has opportunities for grounds maintenance operatives to join our team of skilled gardeners working in Ipswich and surrounding areas. This role would suit someone who wishes to further their horticultural knowledge, or someone with an interest in gardening and the desire to work outside.

You will be caring for a variety of sites in the local area, from residential properties to NHS hospitals, to prestigious commercial offices. Your duties will include grass cutting, strimming, leaf clearance, general maintenance to shrub beds, and winter gritting.

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate should ideally have the following:

· 1 or more years’ experience in horticulture or an interest in gardening.

· Full clean driving licence (essential)

· Knowledge of pedestrian lawn mowers and handheld machinery

· Be able to work as part of a team or on their own.

· Good plant knowledge

Job Description

Malc Firth Landscapes is a forward thinking, dynamic, grounds maintenance provider, operating throughout the Cambridgeshire, East Anglian, Midlands, West Yorkshire and the North Eastern regions of the country.

As we grow, we’re looking to recruit team members that can develop their skills with our company in our busy depot based in Pudsey, West Yorkshire

A full Driving License is required, and you must be over the age of 21 (for fleet vehicle insurance purposes)

Ideally you will have experience in grounds maintenance although full training will be provided to the right candidate. A willingness to undertake a PA1 & PA6 chemical handling course is essential.

Work starts at 7.30am, on an annualised hours contract.

This post will depend on a successful DBS Application

We provide full PPE and uniform. Parking for all team members is free.

Duties include but are not limited to:

· Grass cutting

· Strimming

· Hedge cutting

· Shrub bed maintenance

· Litter picking

· Spraying

Required Skills:

· Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points

· A positive, friendly attitude and great customer service skills

· The ability to work independently as well as part of a team

· Excellent organisational and time management skills

· Strong attention to detail to guarantee quality workmanship

· Problem-solving skills to address any issues or challenges that arise during projects

Desired Skills:

· Mechanical knowledge

· Experience of towing trailers

· PA1 & PA6 chemical handling qualification
