SUMMARY OF THE ROLE


  • Workshop Technician – Offshore Services

  • Salary £34,800 plus overtime and industry leading development plan

  • Working from the Mammoet depot in Thornaby, Teesside
Mammoet Offshore Services specialise in loadout and installation large and heavy structures in marine and offshore environments. The role of an offshore services Workshop Technician is to support in the preparation and maintenance of all the specialised equipment to the high standards expected within Mammoet and offshore industry.
This role will involve occasional travel in the UK and overseas. Applicants must have full right to work in the UK without restriction.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Maintenance, preparation and general up-keep of Offshore Services equipment including but not limited to strand jacks, hydraulic power units, winches, ballast pumps, hydraulic jacks and weighing equipment.
  • Inspection and maintenance of wire ropes, rigging and general lifting equipment.
  • Packing and unpacking of containers in accordance with detailed packing lists.
  • Supporting the workshop supervisors with the maintenance, housekeeping and general upkeep of the yard and workshop facilities.
  • Testing and calibration of load sensitive equipment.
  • Verify that daily equipment checks are completed and recorded in accordance with company procedures.
  • Complete maintenance records in accordance with work completed.
  • Participate in both external and internal company training schemes.
  • Adequately control your own work areas.
  • To participate in all Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (HSQE) initiatives such as prevention of non-conformities in the form of accidents, injuries and illness and to actively seek to eliminate any unsafe work practices and conditions and follow company procedure to report any accident or incident.
  • To ensure all work is carried out in accordance with legal, company and client safety regulations, risk assessments and method statements.
  • Maintenance and care of all PPE issued to you and to report any defects.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED


Essential:
  • Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic City and Guilds, ONC, NVQ Level 3 or similar
  • Mechanical/Electrical/Hydraulic background
  • Clear understanding of the relevant equipment and its use
  • Excellent verbal and written English
  • Current valid driving licence
  • Right to work in the UK without any restrictions

Desirable:
  • Experience in a hydraulic and mechanical maintenance and hydraulic system operation
  • Problem solving and fault finding
  • Able to invent and propose new methods of work/modifcations to existing systems
  • CCNSG Site Safety Passport

Kirkland Associates are seeking a motivated and dedicated person to join our clients team as a Workshop Technician. This is a key role within the build, install and maintenance of renewable gas refuelling infrastructure with 50% of your time at client sites.

Workshop Technician – The role

  • Building, installing and servicing gas refuelling infrastructure at client sites according to bespoke project plans
  • Maintaining the functioning of all components of the refuelling station
  • Delivering detailed reports on each of the stations and planning for the next service visit
  • Ordering parts for each refuelling station so the day to day operation of any fleet is not delayed

Workshop Technician – The candidate

  • Experience in an engineering or manufacturing environment (desirable)
  • Must have a flexible approach to working when necessary
  • Have the ability to multi-task and work well within a small service team
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel

Position: Workshop Technician (Repair Centre)
Location: Lisburn
Job Type: Full time, Permanent – Monday to Friday, 39.5 hours per week, 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm on Friday
Salary: £25,000 to £27,000, Banding Grades 1 – 3 depending on previous experience

Purpose of Role:

To ensure the efficient refurbishment of Matthew Algie Equipment. Making sure the quality of all aspects of work carried out is to the highest standard possible, whilst constantly striving towards departmental aims, paying particular attention to: Quality, performance and reducing part usage where possible.

If you already have previous repair centre experience, you may be able to join at a higher entry grade based on your skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Refurbishment to carry out refurbishment of machines to the highest standards:

  • Refurbishment of machines to the current procedures on all grade 1 and 2 equipment with additional BTC and PSSR inspections carried out in compliance with Coffee Safe regulations
  • To pass quality checks carried out by RC Supervisors
  • Processes to be monitored and improved if required
  • Performance to agreed targets should be aimed for and will lead to grade promotions


The Repair Technician should strive to maximise efficiency and minimise wastage:

  • All work carried out is to be recorded accurately
  • All machines to be completed to the required standard
  • Paperwork to be filled out correctly and any shortages to be noted on paperwork


The Repair Technician should adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures:

  • All legal and Health and Safety requirements must be met
  • All accidents are to be reported to a member of Production Management
  • All potential hazards should be reported as soon as possible


Hygiene the Company Hygiene Policy must be adhered to:

  • To ensure all production staff perform job function to highest standard following all published procedures, Health and Safety, Legal, Quality and Environmental Management regulations
  • All parts of the factory should be kept in a tidy, organised fashion, in constant readiness for third party audits


The Repair Centre Technician should possess a strong level of teamwork:

  • Be fully aware of how their department is performing
  • All members of staff should be treated, and treat others, with respect at all times
  • Get involved in broader department activities if and when required
  • Constantly seek areas for improvement
  • Be fully engaged at their regular appraisal when training needs and general performance will be discussed


Communication must be effective to ensure the success of the department:

  • All staff are encouraged to participate actively in team briefs
  • Departmental performance is a vital objective and ideas to improve should be communicated to your line manager


Administration is a vital part of the Repair Centre Technician role and must be carried out in a professional manner to ensure the success of the department:

  • Administration activities should be carried out in a correct and professional manner at all times.
  • The paperwork should be carried out to ensure an audit trail is possible by external auditors


Experience

To be considered for this opportunity it is essential that you have previous experience in a similar role such as in a repair centre or manufacturing environment, and experienced in use of hand tools

Skills / Knowledge
You will have a qualification or certificate in NC Electrical & Engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent and a Coffee Safe PSSR accreditation.
