Job Description

Is your career in care as rewarding as it could be? Are you frustrated with unrealistic schedules that leave no time for the people you support?

Why not join MacIntyre? You will work with the same people regularly and have the opportunity to build long term life changing relationships.

We’re looking for full-time Female Support Workers to join the friendly team at our Supported Living Service in Hemel Hempstead. The team support five fantastic adults who have a learning disability.

What will your day be like?

You will be supporting people like Karen* and Julie. They each have their own mobility vehicles, this is great as we are able to use these to get into town and visit parks and local attraction’s. A lot of the fun happens on the move, so you must be a driver with a manual licence. Don’t worry you won’t be racing between appointments. Your ability to drive unlocks the opportunities for them to do the things they really enjoy.

Karen is in her twenties and enjoys going to the gym to stay healthy and fit and works for a gardening company where she goes twice a week in a Taxi with her staff. When she is not busy working or exercising, Karen loves to colour in and go shopping in the local High Street to find some treasure and meet friends..

Julie loves music especially the favourites from when she was growing up. Her Spotify playlist is very well worn. You may get tired of hearing the same old songs but you won’t get tired of seeing the pleasure they bring her, even more so if you’ll join in and sing along. She loves going for a drive in her car. Sometimes she enjoys the journey as much the destination. Sometimes its good to just sit back, take in the sights and enjoy the wind in your hair.

Support with maintaining friendships and family connections. can make a real difference. You’ll also support with everyday living needs such as cooking, shopping and helping them to become more independent.

It’s not just the people who we support that we care about. Looking after our employees’ wellbeing, job satisfaction and career prospects is part of our DNA

" I started a career in domiciliary care as I wanted to help people. It was frustrating having to walk away from people who needed my support. I’m glad I have discovered MacIntyre and the chance to go home happy at the end of a shift knowing that I have made a difference" Feedback at a recent MacIntyre careers event

"Please note, we are currently unable to offer sponsorships as we await further guidance from the Home Office. Applications requiring sponsorship cannot be considered at this time. We appreciate your understanding."
