Job Description

Group Financial Controller

My client is an award-winning suppler of global logistics services including air, courier, ocean freight, customs compliance, supply chain and warehousing, across 3 distinct sites.

As a result of an impending retirement, they wish to appoint a Group Financial Controller to manage the financial and risk management functions of a group of 5 companies.

The Role

Reporting to the main group board, your primary responsibilities will be to:

· Oversee the full accounting function including preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end financial accounts (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central).

· Oversee the Credit Control function.

· Oversee the Accounts Payable function, including approval of payments and BACS files.

· Play a key role in the establishment of budgets and KPI’s.

· Advise and assist the board of directors to meet business plan objectives, including the creation of corporate strategy.

· Oversee the management of the Human Resources function.

· Lead the IT strategy.

The Person

You will be knowledgeable, capable, confident in your own ability, resilient, tenacious, and proactive. In addition, you:

· Must be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

· Have 5+ years’ solid post-qualification experience in industry.

· Must be a proven and effective team manager.

· Must have experience using Microsoft 365 including Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

This is a suberb opportunity for any senior finance professional who is seeking varied, value add position, overseeing a well established, high performing finance team. Based in the St Austell area.

£75-85,000 DOE+ hybrid working + excellent benefits package.

Our long standing client is seeking a highly motivated Financial Controller who will support the Group FD, by providing robust financial management, reporting and controls.

Your Duties as Group Financial Controller will include:

  • Ownership, gatekeeper and communicator of Financial Calendar, including Audit.
  • Ensure timely and disciplined monthly consolidation of the Management Accounts.
  • Ownership of the monthly flash for reporting to the Executive with comments on material.
  • Ownership of quarterly forecasting.
  • Develop robust Financial Policies and Procedures.
  • Ownership of the Operating Budget timetable, preparation and consolidation.
  • Implementing automated consolidation process.
  • Oversee and maintanance of general ledger.
  • Year-end statutory accounts and audit preparation.

Key attributes, skills & qualifications:

  • Highly skilled financial controller with experience of consolidation, acquisition and disposal accounting
  • Proven ability to positively influence stakeholders, to lead by example.
  • Change management experience
  • ACCA/CIMA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Managerial experience.
  • Hands on self-starter.
