Classroom Assistant

Job Description

Kumon Guildford East is seeking to fill the position of an Early Learners Teaching Assistant.

Fixed 6 hours per week shift every Tuesday (3:30 pm to 6 pm), and Saturday (8.45am to 12noon).

We remain open through most of the year. We close during Easter, Summer and December holidays for a 2-week period each. We expect our assistants to work throughout the calendar year, and preference is given to candidates who wish to work with us on long-term basis. Candidates should be physically able to perform light cleaning duties as assigned, including sanitising & waste disposal.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Working with children 3-16 years old
• Guiding them as per guidelines, monitoring & reporting to head instructor
• Grade and record all class work and homework
• Assist students through their assigned work (classwork and corrections)
• Maintain a neat and professional work area
• Wear Smart Casual / Formal work attire
• Assist with cleaning and organising the Centre

REQUIREMENTS:

• Excellent Math and Reading skills (A level); we particularly welcome applicants with previous Kumon work experience or Kumon student experience.
• As part of the employment process, a DBS check will be required for applicants 18 years old or older.
• A written assessment is part of the screening process
• Enjoy working with children
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues
• Dependable, friendly, presentable, enthusiastic and Customer Service oriented

OTHER

• No teaching experience is necessary. However, previous work experience in a Kumon Centre or teaching experience in school/university is an asset. Previous Kumon program completer is a big plus.
• Experience in working with children will also be considered as an asset.

Job Types: Part-time, Zero hours contract, Graduate

Pay: £11.44 per hour
