Job Description

As a Hygiene Manager, you will have responsibility for driving site hygiene standards by ensuring there is a hygiene management system in place, lead and motivate the Hygiene team in delivering the standards and follow continues improvement approach.

· Aid the Head of Technical where possible in the implementation of BRCGS standards.

· To establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training, and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with hygiene across the company.

· To investigate and rectify any hygiene issues with root cause analysis and implement appropriate preventive actions.

· Attend the management meetings with different line managers across the organisation.

· Proactively work with other areas of the business to develop a positive hygiene culture.

· Challenging unsafe behaviours and recognising areas of improvement.

· Carrying out regular audits of the site to ensure compliance.

· Support the business in the implementation of new and existing legislation and internal procedures.

· Ensure the company complies with all relevant hygiene legislation.

· To adhere to the company policies including Food Safety and Quality Policy, HR policies etc. and implement them accordingly where required.

· Ensure all Health, Safety and Environmental procedures are followed. Supporting a behavioural safety culture highlighting positive and negative behaviour, ensuring teams works in a safe, hygienic manner following company guidelines, and escalating accidents and incidents appropriately.

· Manage and organise the allocation of workload within the Hygiene team to consistently meet operational and business needs.

· Drive a food safety quality culture through engagement and continuous improvement to maintain and improve the safety, authenticity, legality, and quality of products manufactured on site.

· Prepare and complete audits to maintain hygiene standards in all areas, and driving timely completion of all actions.

· Manage Hygiene Management system (Cleaning Program) and implement Housekeeping and Cleaning Procedure to ensure site compliance to hygiene standards. Drive adherence to systems and work with stakeholders to continuously improve standards of cleanliness on site.

· To develop an efficient way of dismantling, cleaning and putting machinery parts together.

· Manage quality management systems on site relating to hygiene. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in all aspects of product quality/food safety relating to hygiene.

· Effectively manage team and drive colleague engagement through regular communication, performance reviews, feedback and goal setting.

· Manage any personnel matters in a timely manner – including absence management or employee relations matters. Work with Head of Technical and HR Department to identify and develop talent, and coach colleagues to support future succession planning.

· Working with peers and support functions to drive forward engagement, culture and performance at site.

Skills and Qualifications Required

Essential:

  • Food Hygiene Level 3.
  • HACCP Level 3.
  • Demonstrable experience in a food industry technical role etc
  • I.T and Microsoft 365 Dynamic systems.
  • Knowledge of BRC standards and Environmental Monitoring requirements
  • Previous demonstrable experience in leading a team
  • Good Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and their functions
  • Previous experience in creating, implementing and managing cleaning and hygiene program
  • Good Knowledge of food machinery dismantling, cleaning and putting parts back together

Desirable:

  • Degree or equivalent in the relevant technical discipline
  • Knowledge of H&S within a business.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of COSHH

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £34,000.00-£37,000.00 per year
