Then reach out! Kingston Barnes is recruiting a Generator Engineer for one of our clients in the Warmley area.

The Company:

A company specialising in the hire, installation and maintenance of Diesel Generators. The company’s products apply to a variety of industries, and they have a solid customer base. They have steadily grown over the last few years and are now looking to take on another Generator Engineer.

The Role:

You will be responsible for the preparation, testing and repair of generator sets in the depot.

Duties & responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

· Perform routine servicing, maintenance and overall upkeep of large, containerised generators (500KVA and above) within the rental fleet.

· Conduct rebuilds and repairs of large diesel engines (15L to 60L) from leading manufacturers such as Perkins, Cummins, and others.

· Assist with general tasks in the yard, including loading and offloading equipment.

· Operate forklift equipment as needed.

About you:

· Hold A relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Diesel Fitting, or Plant Maintenance (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent).

· Strong fault finding skills

· Experience working with similar sized generators / diesel engines.

· Hold a full UK Driving License (essential)

· Hold a Forklift Licence (preferable – training can be provided)

Package:

· Up to £37,150

· Monday – Friday Days (8am – 5pm)

The Company:

The Role:

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining a range of generators in a workshop environment. The successful candidate will have good engineering knowledge across the mechanical engineering discipline and some electrical knowledge. Ideally, this candidate will also possess a formal qualification and a driving licence.

Requirements:

· Possess a relevant qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering /Diesel Fitting /Plant i.e. City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent OR to have previous experience and knowledge of generators or diesel engines. (Essential)

· Fabrication experience (Essential)

· Full Driving Licence (with towing categories preferred). (Essential)

· Fork Lift Truck Licence advantageous but training can be given.

· Previous experience of working in a workshop environment advantageous.

· Holder of CSCS Card preferred.

As a Generator Engineer, you will play a vital role in our operations, to ensure our electrical equipment is maintained to the highest standards. This position offers a diverse range of responsibilities, providing the opportunity to develop your technical skills, engage in continuous training, and tackle new challenges daily.

What you’ll do:

  • Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and repairs on generators and a variety of other equipment.
  • Installation and testing of generator sets to applications.
  • Deliver outstanding technical support and customer service to our clients.
  • Diagnose faults and conduct preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct on-site servicing and repairs throughout Ireland, including event setup.
  • Ensure all job and service records are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all safety procedures.

What you’ll need:

  • Keen attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills, particularly with electrical faults.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Relevant electrical/electronic qualification and extensive electrical knowledge.
  • Mechanical skills, with experience in hydraulics and mechanics. Level 3 mechanical qualification is a plus.
  • Previous experience as an industrial electrician or working with generators.
  • Previous experience in control panel building.
  • Full driving licence.
