Job Title: Production Planner

Direct Report: This role will report to the Logistics and Planning Manager

Salary: Starting salary commensurate with experience and qualifications

Location: This role will be based at Kilwaughter, Co. Antrim with travel to other sites on an adhoc basis

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Production Planner to oversee and optimise our manufacturing schedules and processes. The successful candidate will ensure production operations align with customer demands, inventory targets, and operational efficiency. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication and a passion for delivering a seamless customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply and engage with Health, Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures to deliver a safety-first culture
  • Efficiently run and maintain daily production plans and schedules to ensure that all customer orders are fulfilled, meeting OTIF targets
  • Proactively communicate with stakeholders about any potential changes in production schedules
  • Identify potential delays in the production cycle and collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks, ensuring minimal disruption to delivery timelines
  • Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure raw materials are available to meet production needs
  • Collaborate closely with commercial and operations teams to ensure smooth production flow and timely delivery of product
  • Coordinate with the Warehousing Manager to ensure finished goods are available to meet OTIF targets whilst maintaining stockholding targets
  • Work closely with the logistics team to understand delivery deadlines and prioritise orders accordingly to ensure commitments are met
  • Use ERP systems and data to analyse performance, identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements
  • Track and report metrics, identifying gaps and taking proactive measures to propose and address potential shortfalls in delivery performance
  • Compile daily Sales and Operational Status Reports using ERP and MS Excel
  • Assist with holiday cover of other duties within the Supply Chain Department as required (and trained) eg Transport Planning
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the customer experience, processes, efficiencies and reduce cost.
  • Act as an ambassador for our company values and adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Any other duties as required by management

Job Description:

Overview:

Modern Packaging seeks a highly organized and proactive Production Planner to oversee the scheduling, coordination, and optimization of production processes. The ideal candidate will ensure efficient workflow, timely delivery, and alignment with client requirements while minimizing costs and maximizing resource utilization.

Key Responsibilities:

Production Scheduling:

Develop, implement, and monitor detailed production schedules to meet delivery deadlines.

Coordinate production activities, prioritizing tasks based on order deadlines and material availability.

Adjust schedules in response to unforeseen disruptions or changes in demand.

Daily Plan need to be circulated on mail as well.

Resource Allocation & inventory control:

Determine manpower, equipment, and raw material needs to meet production goals.

Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to maintain adequate stock levels.

Optimize resource utilization while minimizing waste and downtime.

Target to achieve ‘Zero’ inventory for more than 180days to have better control on dead stock.

Process Coordination:

Act as the central communication link between departments, including manufacturing, procurement, quality control, and logistics.

Monitor work-in-progress and address bottlenecks or delays promptly.

Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards throughout the production cycle.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

Use production data to forecast demand and plan for future capacity requirements.

Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as production output, efficiency, and lead times.

Identify trends and recommend process improvements.

Daily report on Pending order status vs dispatches

Monthly report on DIO ( Days inventory outstanding) in values / tons and for FY.

Monthly OTIF report ( Must be more than 95%)

Continuous Improvement:

Evaluate current production processes and workflows to identify opportunities for improvement.

Implement lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity and reduce costs.

Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address defects and maintain high-quality output.

Customer Focus:

Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to understand client expectations and ensure timely delivery.

Respond to client inquiries regarding order status and delivery timelines.

Skills:

Experience: Proven experience as a Production Planner in manufacturing, preferably in the packaging industry. Minimum experience should be 3-5 years

Technical Skills: Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, ERP) and MS Excel.

Soft Skills: Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple tasks without compromising accuracy or deadlines.

This is a great opportunity for a Production Planner to join our small team at our dedicated organic animal feed mill. Reporting to Site Operations Manager you will be responsible for managing the production planning from receiving the order through to the dispatch of the product. You will be working collaboratively with our Production, Transport and Raw Materials teams to ensure efficiency of the manufacturing process and maintaining product quality.


What you will be doing as Production Planner:

  • Making sure that the production of feed meets the quality required
  • Make certian finished feed is directed to the appropriate storage bin to ensure there is no cross contamination between individual feeds
  • Work with the Raw Material Planning team to ensure that there are enough raw materials stocks to meet production requirements
  • Month end stock takes and stock rotations of all products
  • Carry out administration procedures and maintain all company records, update files and systems
  • Weighbridge procedures covering intake, out-loading, raw material routing and quality control

About the role

Daily Planning Process

  • Generation of daily production schedules
  • Review and resolve MRP exceptions using SAP reports and transactions.
  • Maintain the production firm zone for all sub assembly components within your work package. (2 weeks Rolling)
  • Attend the daily production meeting to discuss plan attainment, capacity, inbound.materials and quality concerns.
  • Ensure any open issues are dealt with effectively following the Draeger escalation process if necessary.
  • Review, plan and release abnormal demand report ensuring decisions are focused on what is best for the whole customer base.
  • Review, plan and release intercompany orders using our Draeger bespoke plant to plant process (ZPTP)
  • Review order revising system for improvement requests (UK & Ireland), review materials, capacity and re-plan where possible.
  • Review planning books to identify fluctuations in demand, where possible use production levelling techniques to balance flow lines.
  • Review Draeger bespoke forecasting tool (ZDPS) for items which fall outside of acceptable stocking parameters and ensure most suitable options are utilised.


Master Data Creation & Maintenance

  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of SAP views MRP1, MRP2, MRP3, MRP4, Forecasting, Work Scheduling, GPD / Storage 1 & GPD Storage 2.
  • Manage deletion workflows to ensure master data on obsolete items is up to date in the SAP system.
  • Working alongside material expediting you will periodically review safety stocks on inbound materials to ensure continuity in supply whilst also maintaining cycle turn targets.
  • Periodically review abnormal demand quantities based on global guidelines.
  • Periodically review lot size parameters based on global guidelines using ABC/XYZ methodologies.
  • Maintain lead time off-set in production BOM’s to ensure production schedules are aligned to current manufacturing methods.
  • Review DCR/DCO requests and make any necessary adjustments to the SAP system to minimise slow moving stock or dead inventory. All exceptions are to be flagged in SAP using the low cycle turns indicator for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain total replenishment lead times for all materials based on the latest business conditions or lead time reduction initiatives.
  • Maintain business model criteria ATO/MTO/CTO/PTO based on global guidelines and local knowledge of material types.
  • Maintain planning profile on materials which are deemed as suitable for forecasting based on analysis of past sales and business plans.


Business Support

  • You will become a member of the Draeger Cross Functional Excellence team (GFE) attending daily stand up meetings using the Agile project management philosophy to solve problems and implement new initiatives.
  • Provide general support to production helping to resolve booking issues and other ad-hoc requests which could impact customer OTIF or create inaccuracies within the system.
  • Raise works orders and plan bespoke build requests working alongside design engineers and production engineering.
  • Where possible create works orders to handle rework requests and seek opportunities to release blocked stock into unrestricted.
  • You may be expected to represent the planning department as project support for new product introductions, changes to existing product or changes to the manufacturing processes.
  • Provide information to the warehouse function on overdue line items which are impacting customer OTIF along with recovery plans.
