Job Description
The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a people-focused professional to join the Kiddie Capers Childcare as our new People Advisor.
In this newly created role, you will be a key member of the People Team, as we work collaboratively to help maintain a positive and engaged workplace environment. You will be delivering comprehensive support across the organisation to ensure Kiddie Capers Childcare operates smoothly and continues to be an excellent place to work. This involves providing first-line advice and guidance to employees and managers on a variety of employment matters, with a focus on achieving positive resolutions.
You will be based at the Kiddie Capers Childcare Head Office in Bolney, however you will need a driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for travelling to our sites across Sussex. With a team of approximately 120 employees and ambitious growth plans, this role provides an exciting opportunity to grow with us and play a key part in the continued success of Kiddie Capers Childcare.
The role is 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility in working hours.
The salary is between £33k-35k (pro rata).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-line advice to employees and managers on day-to-day employment matters
- Deliver Employee Relations support across sites, aiming for early resolution and fostering a positive working environment
- Support managers through formal processes, including disciplinary and grievance procedures
- Offer advice on employment law concerning ER issues, ensuring risks are managed appropriately
- Support performance management processes by working with managers to deliver performance improvement plans when required
- Assist sites with managing absence and following absence management procedures
- Coach and guide managers to help them successfully manage and motivate their teams
- Support managers in developing their teams and holding effective supervisions and performance reviews
- Update and ensure employees and managers understand people policies and procedures.
- Manage flexible working requests, including supporting managers with related processes and meetings
- Conduct exit interviews and provide feedback for continuous improvement
- Work with the People Manager on employee engagement initiatives and support implementation across sites
- Offer advice and support on maternity, paternity, and parental leave, ensuring legal requirements are met, in collaboration with the People Assistant
- Carry out project work and ad-hoc tasks as required by the People Manager/Senior Leadership Team (SLT)
There will be other duties and requirements associated with your job and, in addition, as a term of your employment you may be required to undertake various other duties as may reasonably be required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience at HR Advisory level, including Employee Relations
- CIPD level 5 qualification or above
- Experience of coaching and guiding managers
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build and maintain positive relationships
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Strong written communication skills with excellent attention to detail
- Empathetic with the ability to understand and adapt to the needs of others
- Strong problem-solving skills and able to find creative solutions
