Chemist (Hazardous Waste)
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Chemist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in chemistry and be passionate about scientific research and product development within the hazardous waste sector. This role involves working in a laboratory and outdoor environment, not just conducting experiments, and ensuring quality control in accordance the safe work around hazardous waste substances, but also dealing with customers, drivers and logistics. The Chemist will play a crucial role in advancing our product offerings and maintaining the highest standards of quality.
Duties
- The role encompasses:
- Technically assessment, segregation, labelling and packaging of waste on client’s site with documentation compliant to current UK legislation.
- Collection and loading waste onto transport vehicle with the aid of material handling equipment making it safe and suitable for transportation, safely driving company vehicle to the hazardous waste site for disposal when on the premises make for safe and efficient off-loading.
- Maintenance of a clean, safe and orderly vehicle reporting any defects that prevents duties being accomplished.
- Compliance with EU Drivers Hours Regulations, Working Time Directive and local laws regulating safe driving and the safe and proper handling and loading in the transport of Dangerous Goods
- Assisting in promoting growth of business in the region.
Experience
- Educated to minimum HNC level in Chemistry or other related discipline (Essential)
Hazardous waste, Chemical, Environmental, Chemistry,
- Technically competent in the handling of hazardous waste.
- Valid UK Drivers licence is essential and Forklift Truck certification would be an advantage (training provided if required).
- Knowledge of Health and Safety and Environmental legislation
- Experienced in maintaining and developing relationships with potential and existing customers identifying sales opportunities and leads.
