Residential Activity Worker (RAW)

Location: Based in Maer, Staffordshire ST5
Salary: £12.50 – £13.10 per hour / £25,350 – £26,364 per annum
Additional Earnings: Up to £6,765.12 per year from 9 sleep-ins per month (£62.64 per sleep-in)
Shift Patterns: Full time – 4 days and overnights followed by 8 days off

Full UK Driving Licence with access to a vehicle: Essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support & Care: Build nurturing relationships with young people, providing emotional stability and daily care to help them thrive.
  • Engage in Outdoor Activities: Lead adventurous activities such as rock climbing, mountain biking, and kayaking, fostering confidence and essential life skills.
  • Personal Development: Serve as a role model, supporting personal and social development through structured activities and day-to-day care routines.
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work within a supportive team to create a safe, caring, and stimulating environment for the children.

Requirements:

  • Passion for Outdoor Activities: Enjoy working outdoors and engaging young people in physical challenges.
  • Caring Attitude: Provide emotional and practical support to children with complex needs.
  • Age & Driving License: Must be over 21 and hold a full UK driver’s license.
  • Commitment: Ability to work 39 hours per week, adhering to the 4 days on, 8 days off shift pattern, including sleep-ins.
  • Eligibility to Work in the UK: Must have the right to work in the UK.

Job Title:
Residential Activity Worker – Drivers Only

We would welcome applications from people with experience as: activity instructor, activity leader, activity coordinator, outdoor activity instructor, armed forces, police as well as those with Residential Children’s Support Worker experience.

Location: Based near Wrexham LL11

Base Salary: £25,350 – £26,364 per year

Plus 9 sleep ins per month at £62.64 per sleep-in (up to an additional £6,765.12 per year on top of your salary)

Total Package: up to £32,115.12 – £33,129.12

Shift patterns: 4 or 5 days working, including overnights

About the Role:

As a Residential Activity Worker, you will be working in a home for children with complex behaviours and due to this your role is primarily that of a care worker. You will be a key part of a team of professionals that provide a safe and often life changing experience for our residents with ongoing support from the Registered Manager.

During your 4 days and nights on shift, you will work 2 to 1 with a young person where there will be a heavy focus on them taking part in outdoor and physical activities that may include; mountain biking, adventurous jumping, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, hill walking, rock climbing and more.

As part of the role you will be using one of the company cars to travel to various locations for overnight stops and adventurous activity, because of this a Full UK Drivers licence is essential. Our home isn’t accessible by public transport so having your own transport to get there is also essential.

Gain Qualifications on the Job

While working as a Residential Activity Worker you will be enrolled on a QCF Level 4 Children, Young People & Families Practitioner. Once qualified you will not only gain a pay rise but also have the qualification required to step up into a Senior position.

You will have opportunities to earn qualifications in adventurous activities such as MIAS Level 1 and 2 (Mountain Biking), SUP Instructor, Paddlesports Instructor & Leader, Climbing Wall Instructor, Rock Climbing Instructor, Lowlander Leader, Mountain Leader, Whitewater Rescue, and more.

Our Requirements:

  • A full UK drivers licence & own transport
  • An enjoyment or passion for outdoor activities or sport
  • A willingness to learn new skills and get involved

Direct experience and previous qualifications are not necessary but are welcomed and will be recognised in your hourly pay. However, relatable experience is ideal so if you have worked with young people in the past or even been a parent yourself, make sure you mention it.
