Project Officer

Hybrid working between home and the Kendal Town Council office LA9 4ED

Permanent, part-time, flexible 25 hours per week.

Salary: NJC SCP 17-24, (Currently £30,060-£34,314, pro rata), local government pension scheme (includes 20% employer contribution), wellness scheme

In a broad and beautiful valley on the edge of the Lake District National Park, Kendal is a historic, vibrant commercial and tourist centre. With an impressive history it has an equally impressive range of projects and initiatives for maintaining success and prosperity.

We’re looking for an exceptional individual to help us deliver a diverse range of projects and ensure we can deliver on the Council’s plan. The role is broad, challenging and high-profile; balancing longer-term planning with immediate needs and solutions. In particular you will:

• Work in a team to deliver a wide range of projects
• Work with partner organisations and grant funding suppliers to ensure outcomes reflect best practice, partnership working and long-lasting change.
• Ensure we remain ‘on brand’ with all our external communications
• Ensure all activities meet compliance with current legislation and that we keep aware of any changes, updating our processes accordingly.

We’re looking for previous experience in project-oriented work, including experience of project management. You’ll be adept at working on a diverse range of projects, constantly assessing changing priorities and communicating with a high degree of clarity and influence.

You will help us build strong internal and external relationships and focus clearly on the goals and outcomes required by the council, showing tenacity and imagination to solve any challenges in your way. All whilst adhering to local council governance, finance and good practice.
