Job Title: Workshop Controller
Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30am-4.00pm (38.75hrs)
Salary: £45,000 per annum.

Workshop Controller opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Workshop Controller to oversee maintenance and repair operations for a variety of high-profile customer contracts. This role involves delivering exceptional customer service, managing repair requests efficiently, and fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Workshop Controller will coordinate and prioritise service tasks, ensuring all work is completed accurately, promptly, and cost-effectively.

Workshop Controller duties

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance and repair activities for customer contracts.
  • Provide excellent customer service, building and maintaining relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Respond promptly to repair, maintenance, and breakdown requests, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Monitor and organise all service and planned maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Accurately input data into in-house software systems, maintaining detailed and accurate records.
  • Manage Work in Progress (WIP) and prepare customer quotations

Workshop Controller Skills/Experience required

  • Strong understanding of HGV mechanical systems (formal Heavy Vehicle qualifications are not mandatory).
  • Knowledge of HGV mechanical legislation.
  • Would suit an HGV Technician who wants to move off/away from the tools
  • Experience in fleet management.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead a team effectively.
  • Excellent, high level / advanced Excel Skills.
  • Good knowledge of other Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Teams

  • Monitor work in progress and ensure timely completion, working towards departmental KPI’s that have been set.
  • Motivate and encourage team members to achieve productivity and quality targets, this includes hitting the Workshop efficiency against budget.
  • Liaise with customers to provide updates on their vehicle’s status
  • Ensure the workshop adheres to safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Assist with problem-solving and provide technical guidance when needed
  • Maintain comprehensive records of work and inventory

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Workshop Controller or similar role.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
