As a Senior Business Analyst, you will work as part of our Tax Technology & Innovation team. The Tax Technology & Innovation team is responsible for developing KPMG owned software solutions. As a Senior Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in designing these technology solutions that will be used by our people and by our clients. You will become part of broader team including software engineers, quality assurance analysts and product owners who will together with you develop our technology solutions. You will work closely with colleagues within the tax service lines to ensure that the solutions meet the needs of the business.

What will you be doing?

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand their business needs and requirements, and translate them into clear and concise business requirements to be built by the development teams
  • Document and understand business processes to ensure clarity and consistency
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to verify test cases meet requirements
  • Assist with running user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions and the demonstration new product features to end users of the software solutions
  • Facilitation of backlog refinement and sprint planning sessions.
  • Manage changing and competing requirements
  • Explain complex processes to the client in a simple, easy to understand way

What you’ll be doing

  • Collaborate with business, IT, and strategic partners on large or complex projects to identify, understand, challenge, and agree on requirements. Use various analytical tools and techniques, such as process mapping, requirements engineering and gap analysis

Job description

As a Senior BA working within DWP Digital these are some of the things you will be doing:

  • Work on large, complex products or services, or across a number of products or services simultaneously.
  • Lead workshops, interviews and focus groups to effectively understand business problems and user needs within large complex products or services.
  • You will communicate effectively across senior technical and business stakeholders, ensuring the understanding of requirements and acceptance criteria is aligned.
  • You will understand the business processes and activities that impact and that are impacted by the product or service whilst developing an understanding of how the product or service aligns with the wider strategy of the department.
  • Lead Business Analyst activities and initiatives and will champion continual learning & development within the Business Analyst community.
  • You will be a leading member of the Business Analyst community, taking on leadership and line management responsibilities of Business Analyst’s. Additionally, you will play a significant role in capability building and recruitment when required.
  • Encourage and promote our delivery methodologies, setting standards across the function and working to educate the BA teams working across the functions on principles, methods and tools to support their development.

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from £55,557 to £66,058.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.

Senior Business Analyst

This Senior Business Analyst role will be an integral member of the delivery team working closely with stakeholders across the business to support delivery of outcomes to drive business value.

Facilitation and translation of business requirements into easily understandable deliverables along with mapping out future state processes and operating models is key to ensuring successful outcomes.

Understanding technology landscapes and vendors across eco-systems with varying degrees of complexity will be required in determining appropriate solutions to fit requirements.

Ability to adapt to all different sizes and types of projects will be essential as you help our partners and internal stakeholders navigate their way through all elements of new processes and ways of working, business case creation, ideation and feasibility.


Responsibilities

  • Work in alignment with external partners ways of working including specific tools e.g. JIRA/Confluence/DevOps

Knowledge and skills

  • Insurance experience, including reinsurance.
  • Aware of contractual obligations in relation to TPAs.
  • Knowledge of the insurance market and how eco-systems are structured within it
  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Ability to switch between strategic level and a detailed level.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience conforming product definition to regulatory compliance requirements
  • Business Analysis qualifications (IIBA, ISEB, CBAP, IREB).
