What you’ll be responsible for
As a Production Technician, you will be responsible for operating Water Treatment Works and associated water pumping stations to company BMS and Health & Safety requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Controlling chemical and other stock levels and consumables by control and management of purchasing via SAP. Monitoring and controlling expenditure to meet budgetary targets
  • Inducting, supervising and managing outside contractors carrying out revenue and reactive capital maintenance breakdowns and projects ensuring full compliance to Health & Safety and BMS requirements and ensuring quality control
  • To liaise with ME&I team on revenue and reactive capital maintenance work
  • Liaising and planning work with network supervisors and operatives to ensure uninterrupted supply when plant shut downs are required for maintenance and other associated work required on site
  • Participating in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for area of operation
  • Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Experience gained in the industry to ensure full compliance and adherence to all H&S issues
  • Computer systems literate including SAP, Scope X, Exchange, Word and Excel
  • Awareness of regulatory bodies such as DWI and Environment Agency/NRW
  • Dealing with control of abstraction under licence at raw water intakes
  • Dealing with discharge consent licence for all environmental discharges
  • Fully conversant with Company BMS procedures and Health and Safety requirement and control is desirable
  • Experience gained in the industry with use of SCADA systems, Instrumentation and Mechanical and Electrical equipment is desirable

  • Assisting in goods-in processes, including checking and storing parts
  • Adhering to all health and safety protocols and maintaining a tidy workspace
  • Identifying areas for improvement to enhance quality and efficiency

What do you need?

  • HNC in Engineering or equivalent experience/qualification
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment
  • Strong soldering skills and ability to fault find in both electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Knowledge of health and safety, quality, and build standards
  • GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • IT literacy and the ability to work efficiently within a team

Our client based in Little Hulton have a very exciting opportunity for a Production Technician to join them on a permanent basis, reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role offers the chance to join an ambitious company which is part of a large FTSE50 group.

Hours of work: Monday – Thursday 7am-3.3pm or 8am-4.30pm (Early finish on a Friday)

Responsibilities of the Production Technician:

  • Build and assemble the pre-builds, assemblies and finished goods as advised by the Production Planner and Production Supervisor inline with company procedures and instructions.
  • Pick parts required as per a works order from Sage
  • Use company tools and equipment in line with instructions
  • Check work to ensure that products meet the quality requirements
  • Monitor stock levels of parts used and advise the purchasing co-ordinator where stock levels look low
  • Take part in the bi-annual company stock takes
  • Assist with goods in where required, counting parts, checking counts back to delivery notes and placing stock in its designated location.
  • Assemble and fault find on sub assembly and final assembly products in line with the advised procedures
  • Liase with the Team Leader to ensure a smooth and efficient production flow/ output
  • Promote lean thinking and actively look for ways to improve efficiency/ workflow
  • Experience and knowledge of root cause, corrective and preventative measures within a manufacturing environment

Specific skill requirements of the Production Technician:

  • HNC in Engineering or equivalent experience/ qualification
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing/ production environment
  • Ability to micro solder to a good standard
  • Ability to fault find in both electrical and mechanical assemblies
  • Knowledge of health & safety, quality and build standards or equivalent working experience
