Durnsford lodge residential home
Residential Care Home Cook
Job Description
Short days, no late nights, only 1 weekend in 3… a perfect opportunity to cook in a caring setting with the ability to create a range of dishes.
We are looking for an experienced cook to share the responsibilities and rota for our Residential Care Home, which cares for over 65’s and mainly those with dementia.
The residents love big pot meals-stew, dumplings, soups, curries but also like traditional roasts, old-fashioned dishes such as corned beef hash and good ol’ fish and chips! They would love to have another cook who have a passion for delivering great quality food but also are just as happy to offer a simple snack of bananas and custard!
We would love to have a seasonal menu with input from residents every few months. We would like the cook to discuss possible new dishes as new residents join us to make sure everyone is catered for.
We require a knowledge of allergies and food preferences but also an understanding of food dysphagia and fortified diets would be ideal! We can help find appropriate training for you.
Level 2 or 3 Food Cert is vital and if you don’t have this but can start it before you begin then that’s a possibility.
Part of your role will be to cater for birthdays, family meals and special occasions.
