Job Summary

We are looking to recruit a flexible and versatile Plant Fitter. Working as part of the Operations Team, covering our site in Chelmsford, responsible for an array of functions including; planned preventative maintenance, servicing, breakdowns and repairs of mobile and fixed plant, and ancillary equipment. Working in a fast-paced environment to improve and maintain operational availability, reliability and safety of equipment.

Key Responsibilities Include:

– Provide mobile and fixed plant planned and reactive (breakdown) repairs and, maintenance including fault identification and analysis to facilitate repairs, improvements and refurbishments to agreed standards.

– Deliver PPM schedules for all relevant items of mobile and static plant.

– Ensure all works are fully and accurately recorded on the company’s electronic record system, Asset Go.

Skills & Experience:

– Excellent working knowledge of mechanical machinery with the ability to diagnose and rectify faults.

– Proven experience of repairing plant & machinery.

– Experience of MIG or TIG welding would be an advantage but not essential.

– Positive attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

– Ability to work as part of a close knit team in a busy environment.

– Previous experience within the waste industry would be an advantage.

– Manual dexterity and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of hydraulics and welding techniques.

Job Title – Plant Fitter

Location – Mellor Brook, Lancashire

Salary – £16.00-£17.00

Monks Contractors are waste specialists – we provide haulage and waste specification plant hire to the waste industry. We also have a high pressure water drain jetting team, civil contracting team, plant repair, hire and sales

Responsible to: Plant & Workshop Manager

As a Plant Fitter you will be required to work both in our in-house workshop and on customer sites where you will be required to undertake servicing and repairs of plant & equipment, provide trouble shooting and diagnostic assessment, conduct machine inspections, reporting defects and attempt to provide solutions. Proactively maintain kit to ensure its uptime for customers.

Responsible for;

· You must be capable of following the repair process from fault analysis to completion

· Carry out routine servicing

· General maintenance and repair

· Support the Plant Manager in identifying plant issues

· Ensuring safe practices are demonstrated on site whilst conducting your work

· Completion of all required paperwork

Essential Requirements;

· Recognised qualifications including City, Guilds and NVQ

· Understanding of Health and Safety obligations

· The ability to work under pressure and actively seek solutions to problems

· Have a flexible approach to suit the business
