Overview:

The Despatch Supervisor provides effective leadership to the department and supports the management of the day-to-day activities to meet daily and weekly KPI’s. Driving the standards within the department in areas such as Safety, Hygiene, Quality, Customer Delivery and Cost improvements, through the effective supervision of the team and by working with other operational departments and external hauliers.

Responsibilities:


The Role
  • Despatching the product effectively and efficiently, maximising accuracy and minimising downtime and waste – Stock Rotations and Write offs etc.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all functions including Engineering, Stores, Health and Safety, Production, FSQ, Planning, Finance, Sales, HR, L&D and external hauliers.
  • Ensure all processes are adhered to and compliance with Company policies and procedures.
  • Plan, organise and manage labour resources to ensure the Despatch Plan/schedule is met and there are no breaches to working time regulations;
  • Complete Return to Work interviews and ensure that all T&A matters are dealt with and closed out;
  • Effectively resolve staff issues in relation to absenteeism and/or performance, liaising with HR and Department Manager as appropriate and ensuring timely communication up and down the line;
  • Ensure that all employees receive appropriate training in order to effectively perform the role they are required to do, ensuring full compliance with SOP training and maintaining the training matrix;
  • Analyse and rectify accordingly any issues identified by the Team leaders / Operators which could affect achievement of the Despatch Plan
  • Support the Despatch Management in the identification, development and implementation of relevant departmental projects and initiatives;
  • Provide supervision and direction to the team to support the achievement of agreed targets and deadlines, ensuring the delivery of projects and achievement of targets in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring all risk assessments and SOPs are fully trained out and complied with;
  • Responsible for ensuring completion of accident investigations within the department;
  • Maintaining an efficient productive department whilst adhering to all Environmental, Health & Safety and Quality Standards laid out in departmental and site policies and procedures;
  • Designated cover in Manager’s absence
  • All other associated duties.

Qualifications:


The Person
  • Minimum 1 Years Supervisory or Managerial experience in a food production or despatch environment;
  • Good communication skills that enable you to carry out team briefs and any necessary written communication;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, together with the ability to assist in leading and motivating a team;
  • Basic IT knowledge (additional training on in-house systems will be provided on appointment);
  • Willing to participate in Management Development training.
  • Experience in Stock Management and Warehouse Management

This role operates on a 4 on/4 off day shift basis.

Despatch Supervisor

Our client a leading employer in the local area is currently looking to recruit for a Despatch Supervisor to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising a busy despatch team, ensuring all goods are being handled and despatched correctly.

This position operates 4 days on 4 days off 12 hour day shift pattern.

Main Responsibilities:

· Ensure all internal processes are adhered to and compliance with company policies and procedures

· Develop and maintain strong working relationships across all departments

· Liaise with haulier companies regarding any issues with shipments

· Oversee the despatch of products and minimising downtime within the department

· Delegating workload to the team and resolve issues quicky and efficiently

· Assist the department manager with ongoing projects

· Ensuring all risk assessments and SOPs are fully trained out and complied with

· Approving staff holidays and completing employee return to work interviews

· Responsible for training and upskilling of team members

The successful candidate must have:

· A minimum of 1 years (+) experience in a supervisory role preferably within the FMCG industry

· Strong analytical abilities

· Excellent attention to detail

· Excellent communication both written and verbal

· Ability to prioritise and manage workload

· A positive can-do attitude towards work
