We are looking for a dedicated individual to be a fundamental part of the Dr Oetker (UK) Ltd Laboratory Team, this is great opportunity for someone to learn new skills and develop themselves within a lab environment.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical and administrative support to ensure the business meets food safety, quality and regulatory requirements. This will include duties such as:

Carrying out routine analysis of raw materials and finished product, maintaining records of results and reporting of any non-conformances for trend analysis.

Assisting with recording and investigating out of specification and non-conforming products Recording results onto SAP QM system in a timely and accurate manner.

Carrying out routine environmental monitoring, ensuring results are communicated effectively to the relevant teams.

Participation in external proficiency testing schemes.

Inputting data and results into the SAP QM system and relevant databases in a timely manner.

Calibration and record keeping of relevant lab/factory equipment in line with set schedules.

Maintaining lab service contractor documentation in line with H&S requirements.

Responsible for carrying out regular stock takes and placing orders when required.

Ensuring Good Laboratory Practice is adhered to at all times.

The Role: Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Laboratory Technician to join our clients Research & Development (R&D) team. This is a lab-based role where you’ll play a key part in testing and developing new products and formulations. From stability testing to managing laboratory processes, your contributions will be integral to creating innovative, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulation & Testing: Conduct stability tests on new products and packaging. Assist in developing and testing formulations to meet specifications.
  • Sample Preparation: Prepare samples for customer testing, trials, and submissions.
  • Laboratory Support: Ensure lab equipment is calibrated and maintain chemical and consumable stocks. Keep the workspace safe, clean, and organised.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Write clear reports and trial instructions while keeping accurate test records.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to optimise product development.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

  • 2 GCSEs or equivalent (preferably in Maths and English); a science-based background is preferred.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a laboratory environment, ideally in FMCG or a related field.
  • Familiarity with UV spectroscopy is a bonus but not essential.

Skills:

  • Strong computer literacy, especially in Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.

About the role

The post holder will provide essential laboratory-based support to the Genome Editing and Engineering Core (GEEC) Facility. This role focuses on maintaining custom CRISPR-edited cell culture projects and supporting the molecular biology laboratory. The individual will also contribute to the development and expansion of the facility’s services, ensuring high standards of operation and supporting cutting-edge research.

This role demands a proactive, detail-oriented individual with expertise in cell culture and molecular biology techniques. Key responsibilities will include following standard operating procedures (SOPs) in various cell culture techniques; assisting with gRNA extraction and standard PCR; maintaining systems for accurate record-keeping and adhering to any COSHH and risk assessment requirements and safe working practices.

This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

The MBDA Seeker & Datalink Systems Team design and develop state of the art RF and Dual Mode (RF and IR) seekers for use in guided missile programmes. An exciting opportunity exists for a Laboratory Technician with broad based skills in electronic design to take a central role in a number of laboratory-based activities. The role requires an individual with good technical skills, a high degree of enthusiasm, a determination to deliver products to the right standard within the required timescales and the authority to maintain a high degree of professionalism and integrity within the lab.

The Seeker hardware team provides the design solutions to systems requirements including the build and test of designs from concept to full scale production systems. Experience and Skills Required

  • Ideally experience as a test, calibration or laboratory technician
  • Experience in an ISO17025 accredited laboratory environment would be an advantage however not essential
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software packages.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously within set timeframes.
  • Ability to follow procedures and methods and work well on a self-directed team. Must be computer literate with good communication and time management skills.
  • Must be able to interact effectively and diplomatically with all company personnel under minimum supervision and be responsive to the requirements of department members and other departments with whom interaction is necessary.
