Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator with design knowledge. Candidates with experience of using Estimation Software will have a distinct advantage.

The position is based in Birmingham and candidates will be responsible for tendering for works predominately within the Midlands area, but also on a national basis.

About the Role:

  • Responsible for the preparation of the tender submission and obtaining quotations.
  • Liaise with internal & external people and organisations to review tenders and conduct handover meetings with relevant personnel.
  • Ensure that all tenders submitted are technically correct, comply with all documentation provided by the client and meet all set deadlines.
  • Represent the company on site visits, negotiations and meetings with Clients when required.
  • Preparing tender packages for bids, interviews and presentations.

Job Description

A new opportunity has arisen for an Mechanical Estimator to join a growing Midlands based company that provides both Electrical and Mechanical installation and maintenance services across the commercial and industrial sectors

As a Mechanical Estimator, responsibilities are as followed:

  • Commercial projects ranging from £100k- £5Million mechanically
  • Assess key supply chain in line with strict tender requirement
  • Advise key information to the Directors from tender evaluation
  • Ensuring estimating procedures are followed and inputting data into the estimation software programme
  • All aspects of Tender Documentation and Preparation including; reading drawings and specifications
  • Generating a list of Sub-contractors, Suppliers and wholesalers for enquiries to be sent out to and carry out the whole tender process while following company procedures

Requirements:

  • You will previously have worked in a building services consultancy or contractor as a Junior Mechanical Estimator, Mechanical Design Estimator, Mechanical Estimator, M&E Estimator or Building Services Estimator, Trainee Mechanical Estimator
  • Knowledge of programmes such as Estimation, Excel, Outlook, Word and a general understanding of I.T.

The role
We are urgently seeking a Mechanical Estimator to assist with delivery of our Central based projects. Send out enquiries to suppliers and sub-contractors.

Take-off the drawings and input into Estimation software.

Carry out an analysis of received quotations to ensure the equipment / specialist is compliant with the tender information.

Complete a tender analysis including preliminary costs.

Take the master tender letter and summary and customise them to suit the requirements of the submission and more importantly incorporate any specific clarifications that are poignant.

You will need:
As the ideal Mechanical Estimator, you will have worked for another leading M&E sub contractors before and will have a strong mechanical background. Along with relevant industry qualification and experience, you will have experience in estimating the full mechanical package.
