We have an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Community Engagement Team…

Role:

You will use your ability to connect with young people to support them to take part in creative, fun and accessible activity sessions.

You will need to be confident to provide high quality support and personal care, (including medication) and be able to offer behaviour support to young people aged 5-18 years.

As we continue to expand our services across Cheshire, we are recruiting for the following roles;

  • Support Worker Chester; 3x 2.5 hour sessions per week (afternoons and evenings Tuesdays & Wednesdays)
  • Support Worker Tarporley; 5 Hours, Tuesday daytime and evening
  • Support Worker alternate Crewe/Macclesfield; 2.5 hours, Thursday

Mavam Support Worker – Job description

Salary: £18,423.60 per annum to £19,255.60 per annum (OTE including x2 sleep-in per week)

Hourly rate: £11.45 to £12.25

Enhanced Overtime Rate: £12.88 to £13.78 Per Hour

Sleep-in: paid at £62.65 per night.

Part-time shift pattern: 20 hours per week plus 2 sleep-ins = 36 hours

Mondays: 4pm to 11pm plus a sleep-in from 11pm to 7am

Tuesdays: 7am to 10am

Fridays: 3pm to 11pm plus a sleep-in from 11pm to 7am

Saturdays: 7am to 10am

Reporting to: Assistant Team Leaders

Overall Purpose

The aim of this post is to enable people with a wide range of complex needs, including severe and enduring mental health problems/learning disabilities/substance misuse issues and anti-social behaviour, to live as independently as possible within the community.

The Role

To work flexibly as part of a team. The role is to provide a service of support, advice and advocacy in such a way as to develop personal choice and autonomy and to assist users of the service to develop a lifestyle which promotes their good physical and mental health.

Main Responsibilities

To form caring relationships and to respect the client’s dignity and rights at all times.

To encourage participation in all aspects of the service, including the organisation of individual and group activities.

To assist users of the service in claiming welfare benefits, as appropriate, and seek to maximise funding.

To assist service users in maintaining a reasonable standard of health and safety in their accommodation and to promote awareness of these issues.

To assist in keeping the accommodation in good condition and to promote a reasonable standard of domestic management.

To promote advice on housing needs and rights and assist service users when moving, if appropriate

Liaison

To act as an advocate for service users e.g. on welfare rights issues, attending case conferences, helping to resolve disputes, assisting in negotiations with housing providers etc.

Research and maintain awareness of a wide range of services and opportunities which may interest users of the service

Where appropriate, to assist service users in selecting and accessing resources such as legal services, training and employment opportunities, leisure and educational services health services and expert welfare advice rights.

Administrative Tasks

Maintaining proper written documentation relating to service users and project records e.g. petty cash in accordance with Mavam Supported Housing practice.

To submit accurate claim and record forms as required by the appropriate deadlines e.g. monthly timesheets and mileage forms.

Other Duties

Duties may be reviewed from time to time, in accordance with the needs of the service users and the requirements of the company
