Job Description

Building incredible client relationships is fundamental to setting apart DesignStudio’s approach. As a Client Manager, you will support a Client Director as part of a larger team, and/or drive smaller scale workstreams and projects independently, seeking to contribute to multi-disciplinary teams helping to create world-class work.


Our Client Managers work in partnership with the project team. You will be responsible for project commercials and project management admin and logistics, developing a best practice standard to ensure the successful delivery of projects throughout the studio.

Being highly collaborative, able to connect and work well with a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating enthusiasm and engagement with the outcome and impact our work has for our clients, is equally important in this role.


Responsibilites


Client Relationship Management

Build a relationship with and become the direct contact for junior and mid level clients, responding with speed and assurance to the majority of internal and external requests, and quickly finding the answer to those questions you’re unable to answer yourself


Project team management

Solid project management skills to prepare a project for success internally e.g. steer a project team through project Immersion logistics or against required delivery timings

Input into project conversation or debate in a constructive way, sharing perspective and ideas that builds on content

Contribute and share an emerging point of view on the right way to deliver a project – while still being open to learning new ways of working

Manage multiple workstreams and/or projects simultaneously over a mix of clients and sectors


Strategic Relationship Management

Seek out new and innovative ways to develop the work and your team, particularly around expanding the DesignStudio capabilities and strengthening team bonds across disciplines

Interrogate client briefs to ensure there is clarity and purpose behind each opportunity


Commercial Fluency

Scope, run and deliver projects on time and on budget

Be accountable for project commercials, including accurately forecasting revenue, active tracking and monitoring for the project’s commercial health, planning resource, managing invoicing and third party supplier costs


Project Delivery

Ensure projects are delivered in a timely and accurate manner; setting and re-setting clear expectations from kick-off through to delivery

Seek to guide clients and colleagues through work or thinking that may be new or uncomfortable

Take responsibility for the work you deliver –whether that’s the proposal, agenda or process –and present it with a clear, confident rationale

Join the dots across an account proactively, identify potential opportunities, and offer solutions on project challenges while being receptive to the contribution and experience of those around you


New Business

Develop a clear understanding of the the core DS offer and be confident in speaking to our core capabilities and key disciplines

Develop bespoke proposals and estimates in response to client briefs or known opportunities, and be confident in sharing and negotiating with clients


CS Team membership

Be a vocal member of the CS team, contributing to improving our ways of working and suggesting agency initiatives

Be highly collaborative, able to connect and work well with other Client Service team members, strategists, designers, partners and clients

Seek out new and innovative ways to develop the work and your team, particularly around strengthening team bonds across disciplines

Sainsbury’s is one of our biggest and most strategically important accounts in the business. This role provides you with an opportunity to work with data across different capabilities such as Purchase, Usage, Out of Home, Petrol and Nutrition, as well as consulting on a diverse and interesting array of topics. This also includes working closely with Kantar’s advanced analytics team.
We have developed strong relationships across the Sainsbury’s business which means we get to work on some extremely strategic projects throughout the year. You will be expected to support the Consumer Insight Director with the strategic direction and ambition of the account. You will be responsible for creating and delivering regular reports to Sainsbury’s and responding on day to day requests which require either your expertise or additional data.
Sainsbury’s are always open to new thinking and our strong, consultative relationship means we often get to shape their thinking and their strategy, be it in upcoming seasonal periods or how they operate in different channels. With the huge shift in how we shopped during the last few years, from the move to online and to rapid delivery, this is more important than ever and offers challenges and opportunities alike for Sainsbury’s.
Your role would also include getting involved in developing thought leadership and share this with the wider business.
Key responsibilities
  • Core contact for e.g. Food Trading (including Fresh, Grocery and Own Label/Innovation) x 1 and Business Performance, Marketing and Channels x1
  • Support on insight pillar briefs with view to ownership
  • Owning delivery of day-to-day BAU requests
  • Responsible for training and upskilling colleagues on the Supplier’s panel and delivery systems
  • Key point of contact for operational requests and liaising with relevant collaborators
  • Owning relationships with junior stakeholders and building with mid-level partners across the Customer’s teams
Key outcomes
Help the Customer answer its day-to-day questions by analysing behavioural data and turning this into actionable insights and recommendations.
Build relationships with contacts across the Customer and develop and follow a contact plan throughout the year.
Use these relationships and touchpoints to understand the Customer’s challenges and wider goals, and partner with the Customer to help answer its questions
Lead the training programme to transition the Customer to the new pioneering delivery platform, MyWorldpanel, and embed to ensure minimal business disruption and step change in the way that the Supplier interacts with the Customer
Ensure the Customer maximises value across aspects of its contract and receive a best-in-class service – measured quarterly with full Joint Business Planning annually
Mentor and coach junior members of the Customer’s account team (Category Analyst)
During the Customer’s peak period (November – Feb), Client managers are required to actively participate in the Customer’s brainstorming & storyline session for Christmas PIR to support the shaping of the Customer’s narrative as well as supporting the Customer in the build of the PIR pack by providing insights / expertise. From a Trading Statement perspective, Client manager of Business Performance to support the Customer on providing hypothesis, participate in brainstorming sessions alongside with the delivery of custom time periods report stated in ‘Trading Statement’ section.
