Job Description

Belper School and Sixth Form Centre are looking to recruit Relief Site Supervisors to join our dedicated team of premises staff. The successful candidates will be able to work well as part of a team and independently providing a range of practical site support functions to ensure the security, care and maintenance of the school, and to help ensure a clean, safe, warm and attractive environment for all users of the building.

This role will be of particular interest to suitably skilled candidates, who are looking for occasional relief work. Weekday shifts will be available to cover holidays, sickness and training for our current team of Site Supervisors. Relief shifts may also be available on evenings and weekends in the future, in order to support lettings as part of our commitment to Belper Community Theatre.

About us

KeyPoint have been in operation since around late 2016. We offer an exceptional relief service to North East schools covering absence of Caretakers and Cleaning staff, primarily in the Sunderland area. We also offer long term contracts where we post one of our dedicated team in a school, to meet the schools requirements, on a year rolling basis.

We are currently seeking the perfect candidate to work on a ‘0 hour contract’ covering caretaker absence across various sites/schools. This post may then lead to a one year contract (with set guaranteed hours) either part time or full time placed in one location.

Monday to Sunday (weekends optional)

Working hours based on customers needs to cover absence, but within the hours of 6am and 6pm. The candidate will ideally be available for work either all mornings or all afternoons Monday to Friday.

Attending paid call outs is also an option, but not compulsory.

The perfect candidate will be highly reliable, friendly & approachable, proactive and have exceptionally high standards of work. Having background experience in a school caretaking role would be beneficial but is not essential as we offer full training to ensure our employees fully understand all aspects of the role and the requirements of working in schools, so they can quickly and easily ‘hit the ground running’.

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and in order to satisfy safer recruitment to work in schools, a satisfactory Enhanced DBS is required as part of pre-employment checks. An online search will also be completed for all shortlisted candidates.

Responsibilities
Duties will include, but not limited to;

  • Ensuring the security of premises, carrying out security checks, opening and closing the building at specified times.
  • Carrying out health and safety checks such as fire drills & legionella to ensure the school is H&S compliant.
  • Maintenance duties – to carry out first line maintenance and repairs.
  • Key holding duties – initial response to fire and intruder alarms, taking necessary emergency measures to ensure the site is secure.
  • Ensuring adequate supplies of products (e.g. light bulb/florescent tubes, cleaning materials, toilet rolls, hand towels etc.) are available.
  • Ensuring that the premise is available for out of school activities , including the setting up of equipment and / or furniture as required.
  • Emptying internal/external litter bins and ensuring that the whole site is clear of litter and safe for pupils and staff to access.
  • Porterage of goods and materials and movement of furniture and equipment as required.
  • Cleaning of designated areas, as required such as school hall and toilets.

Requirements of the role

  • Relevant experience in a caretaking environment or in a similar or related role. (DESIRABLE)
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation relating to a caretaking environment. (DESIRABLE)
  • Ability to carry out first line repairs and maintenance where requested.
  • Ability to use a range of cleaning tools and equipment.
  • Ability to plan and organise work, including effective use of own time.
  • Resourceful and be able to use own initiative, without constant supervision.
  • Listens, consults others and communicates clearly.

Job Description

Dodd Group was formed in 1947 in Shropshire and has remained a privately owned family business ever since. With an unrivalled reputation within the building services sector, we offer a comprehensive electrical and mechanical design, installation and maintenance service across many sectors.

The Role:

The purpose of the role is to ensure that all planned/reactive maintenance and associated activities for the contract and all additional works and delivered as per the agreed KPI and SLA. You are also supervising the onsite Dodd Group operatives in respect of all HR, H&S, and Performance issues and to ensure they are fully aware of the delivery aspect of the contract. You will be covering four sites across the Plymouth area. It is essential that the applicant is an experienced electrician or gas maintainer.

Duties include:

· Assist with the scheduling of Job Packs for Operatives and Sub-Contractors on the Maximo system.

· Review and authorise time sheets and highlight any issues to the Area Manager before submission.

· Manage the planned and reactive maintenance for the site; ensure materials are ordered on time for the completing of JPs (Job Packs).

· Be fully trained on Maximo and Vixen (Dodd Group Supply Chain Application) to assist with ordering on parts and completion of GRNs (Goods Receipt Notes).

· Continually monitor all activities on site to ensure that all statutory, regulatory, and contractual compliance is met.

· Complete EWNs/SON as and when needed and ensure they are submitted in good time to avoid contract compliance failure.

· Checking of all Sub-Contractor RAMs and Method Statements and highlighting any issues.

· Obtain and Submit quotes from suppliers via Vixen in a timely fashion.

· Arrange for Hire Equipment as and when required, i.e., Cherry Pickers/MEWPs/Scaffolding and any other plant required in conjunction with VIVO DM.(Delivery Manager)

· Assist with the booking in of all parts and their allocation to the relevant JP and engineer.

· Assist the Compliance Supervisor in carrying out WHIPs and Retro Inspections and promote a pro-active safety culture.

· Carry out periodic checks of operatives to ensure that they are fully compliant and all tickets are up to date, i.e. Gas safe, VIVO ID etc .

· Undertake 6 monthly and 12 monthly PDPs of all operatives and highlight any issues ensuring they are submitted to HR on time.

· Identify any training requirements needed for operatives to ensure that all tasks can be delivered.

· Be Dodd Group’s first point of contact for all Internal relationships, escalating where necessary.

· Ensure that all urgent reactive Jobs are delivered on time and all paperwork is submitted correctly.

· Ensure all AP requests are submitted on time to avoid delays.

· Carry out all return-to-work interviews for all operatives returning from periods of illness.

· Provide when requested operational data on performance and suggesting any improvements to your managers.

· Preparing and presenting, site inductions, safety briefings and toolbox talks.

· Ensuring all Dodd Group and Establishment rules and regulations appropriate to the site are followed by all Dodd Group operatives and report any infringements, and that welfare facilities are in place and readily available.

· Authorise periods of absence, ensuring that the appropriate cover is in place for normal duties and on call systems also to keep Area Manager informed of all site absences.

· Ensure that you are fully conversant within the contract of what is IN or OOS (Out of Scope) and where and if the IRL (Inclusive Repair Limit) applies to a job pack.

· Ensure that all new employees are fully inducted and have the required tools and equipment to carry out their duties correctly.

· Carry out Interviews and the recruitment of new personal in conjunction with the HR department and Area Manager.

HEALTH & SAFETY

· To follow all the most relevant legal requirements as stated in the Station/Client and Company Health and Safety Policy

· To ensure that all areas frequented and used by Dodd Group operatives are tidy and free from all hazards.

· To make a positive contribution in the general housekeeping of the Dodd Group admin area.

· Report and address any safety defects and or issues to the SHEQ Officer for Dodd Group.

· Assist the compliance supervisor in ensuring that all tools and testing equipment is in date, calibrated and registered on the asset register.

· Ensure that all Dodd Group employees are aware of the Tobacco Free Policy being implemented on all Military Bases.
