Job Description

New Product Development Technologist

Barking


£27,000 – £31,000 (Pending experience)

Monday – Friday 9am – 5:30pm (40 hours per week)

We have an immediate requirement for a NPD Technologist, who’s role will be to research, develop and test new products alongside improving existing products, to meet customer needs and market trends.

You will also be involved in leading the development process, ensuring our products meet quality and safety standards. Additionally, assisting the NPD and Sales teams in all aspects of food development and successful launch processes.


Accountabilities:

  • Research and Identify consumer trends, market opportunities, and competitor products.
  • Co-ordinate and Support food development sampling, preparation, and submission for new and existing customers.
  • Sourcing and ordering new ingredients and packaging in accordance with Technical and procurement protocols.
  • Provide Technical expertise and support for scale up and commercialisation of new products.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing products through ingredient optimisation, cost reduction and process effectiveness.
  • Assist with production trials, ensuring a suitable match to kitchen/development samples.
  • Develop and maintain product specifications with diligent completion of customer new food submission documents and regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage product timelines and resources, to deliver new and existing products according to schedule and within budget.


To be successful in your application, you will need to be:

  • Educated to a degree level Ideally in food science, food technology or food science and nutrition.
  • Possess Food Safety qualifications including HACCP.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing/ Catering NPD processes and procedures.
  • Accurate attention to detail & outstanding organisational skills.
  • Computer literate – good MS Office skills, including Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Car owner/driver (must be willing to travel between 2 sites – Wimbledon & Barking).

NPD Technologist

Due to continued growth, my client a leading FMCG company who are undergoing a lot of growth and with continued investment in their facilities and machinery are now in search of an NPD Technologist to join their team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Working alongside operations to develop and innovate new products and processes from concept to launch
  • Working alongside chefs, NPD Assistant/ Technologists, and the NPD Manager
  • Recording required information to generate recipes and QAS documents
  • Planning, organising, and coordinating factory trials and projects to a high standard, in line with deadlines and requirements
  • General NPD Process duties such as sampling, repeat sampling, sealing and labelling samples for all customers
  • Other duties in the scope of the role

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant Food- related Degree with a minimum of 1 years’ previous experience in a Food Manufacturing setting
  • Flexibility in your working week
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Driving license
