Job description

As a Children’s Residential Waking Night Support Worker, you will work directly with the children and young people, with appropriate support, guidance and under the supervision of the senior leadership team.

Your role is to support young people in their day to day routines which include providing emotional support, promote learning and supporting attendance at education, work with young people to develop interests and improve life skills, promote self-sufficiency and build resilience.

You will be expected to be a good role model; embrace rights, encourage healthy lifestyles, to support young people in having all their health needs met, promote wellbeing, help young people develop safe decision making and work in a manner that ensures they are safe.

All staff need to be good communicators, in the written and verbal form, and be IT competent; all staff receive appropriate training to ensure such tasks can be completed to the required standard.

We assess potential My 3 Limited Residential Waking Night Support Workers against the following criteria: –

Experience – of working in a relevant setting with knowledge and experience of supporting children and young people, this is desirable but not essential and transferrable skills are recognised by My3 Limited

Qualifications – Level 3 /4 desirable but not essential ( training to achieve the necessary professional qualifications will be provided to successful candidates )

Skills – resilience, good humour , empathy, stamina, and a good understanding of children, including but not required and understanding of young people with autism, learning disabilities and associated conditions.

Personality – approachable, good listener, honest, trustworthy, reliable and fun to be with. Must have the ability to establish professional relationships with children, to develop trust, to understand and recognise boundaries but know also how to relate to children and how to play.

All the above personality traits are essential.

Additional requirements:

Good communicator / good listener

Be both physically and emotionally fit

Be flexible in response to changing needs within the service.

Be a Driver with car and hold a clean licence

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, 160hr contract per month

£14.01 per hour unqualified

£15.01 – level 3-4 qualified in children’s residential care or equivalent

We are looking for Support Workers in Weymouth to cover night shifts on a full time or part time basis.

We are looking for someone to support a gentleman in his 30s, with varied disabilities (Cerebral palsy, a-typical autism and behaviours of distress). You will be working as a part of a close team around this gentleman, whilst supporting him in his own home in Weymouth.

Role responsibilities will include supporting him to live as independently as possible whilst also supporting him in administering of medication, personal care and promote a positive sleep pattern as the individual can awake for periods of the night.

During the day this gentleman likes to spend his days engaging in a wide range of activities from swimming to walking, carriage riding, sailing (summertime) He also likes spending time at home where he can play games, he enjoys watching his favourite 80’s, 90s quiz shows. He enjoys a nice calm, quiet atmosphere. He enjoys taking part in arts and crafts, visiting local parks.

During the night, the gentleman has a healthy sleep pattern albeit he can wake for small periods of the night. Reliability, consistency and having a fun sense of humour are the key to his heart and to developing a friendship with him. Our support for this gentleman will involve keeping this gentleman sleep pattern positive whilst supporting him to meet his needs if called upon.

We are looking for full time dedicated children’s home waking night support workers, to be part of a team offering a comprehensive residential service to children and young people who have a diagnosed learning disability. Our normal shift patterns are on a rolling rota basis, our shift working hours are: 22.30pm – 08.00am on a 4 on 4 off rota pattern, this means that working days vary from week to week.

Responsibilities:

* Contributing to the young person’s care plans and risk assessments, their review and implementation

* Forming effective relationships with young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies.

* Ensuring the home is kept clean and in a tidy condition, adhering to the cleaning rota system, encouraging the young people to participate as appropriate.

* Ensuring that good quality records are maintained as required with supervision and advice from shift leaders and Managers.

* Maintaining and promoting residential care work to high levels of professionalism expected by the company and Ofsted.

* Working independently but can manage risk & use their initiative

* This role is a highly sensitive role and as such requires excellent safeguarding awareness due to the position having a foundation built on trust with our young people

Experience Required:

* Level 3/4 Diploma in Children’s & Young People’s workforce or equivalent (preferred) or must be willing to undergo the qualification once employed

* Experience working within a children’s residential setting is beneficial but not a requirement

* Ability to interact with a range of people/young people

* To be able to provide consistency of care and support to the young people

* Experience (preferred) working with children who may display
challenging behaviour

* Flexibility to work shifts including weekends

* Candidates must be over 21 to meet the industry regulations
