This job is for a home Maths tutor in Southend-on-sea and surrounding areas. You must be able to drive to students homes.

Mathnasium is a global company with over 1000 maths-only learning centres worldwide, which offers both maths help and enrichment to students through our unique combination of mental, oral, visual, tactile and written techniques. We teach maths to children for understanding, in a way that makes sense to them! Most importantly we make maths fun and grow children’s confidence.

Want to make a difference in a child’s life by passing on a love for maths? We are currently seeking Maths Instructors to work with students to achieve mastery of maths.

We have a number of tutor positions available, including a full-time position (greater need and potential for great career growth to Centre Director) and part-time positions, too. Full-time positions hours range from 20-24 hours and part-time is 8 hours+. For all positions, working Sundays will be mandatory (likely to be 10 am-1 pm).

Responsibilities:

  • Administer Mathnasium curriculum.
  • Deliver Mathnasium methodology with confidence and energy.
  • Ensure continued student motivation, progression and mastery.
  • Execute superior customer service.
  • Professionally interact with students and parents.
  • Communicate student progress to line manager.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Exceptional maths skills (minimum Maths A/A* or grade 7-9 at GCSE and/or Maths A at A-Level).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional customer service focus.
  • Energy and passion for working with students.
  • Ability to professionally interact with students and parents.
  • Energetic, fun and confident personality.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Preferred:

  • Previous educational or tutoring experience.
  • Strong A-Level Maths or Higher Education qualification.

Availability:

  • Opening hours: Mon-Thu 3.00 pm to 7.30 pm, Sat 10 am to 2 pm. Flexitime hours are available, too. Within reason.
  • If you are unable to work the minimum hours or can only work remotely we will not be able to consider your application.

The Role

We are looking for an instructor to be part of the educational excellence in our maths only learning centre. Instructors are the most important part of our team and will be expected to help develop a thriving learning environment by delivering outstanding instruction to students using our world leading teaching methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the Mathnasium curriculum, deliver with confidence and energy
  • Be an effective part of the team by listening to senior staff and colleagues
  • Ensure that students are motivated and progressing towards mastery of the curriculum they have been set
  • Eventually coach and train colleagues who are new to the business
  • Balance instructional responsibilities with administrative tasks to ensure a smooth-running centre
  • Positively manage behaviour and resolve student progress issues independently where possible and escalating those issues that require the attention the line manager
  • Provide exceptional customer service by professionally articulating students’ progress and needs to ensure parents and students feel supported and valued
  • Work closely with your line manager to organise and run the centre smoothly
