We are looking to recruit a HR Business Partner to support a new division Aviation, Maritime and Offshore within our Transport unit.

Providing a first-class business focussed high performing HR service, you will be an integral part of the business and HR team with a job scope that covers all facets of the human resources function from HR strategy to operational activities.

What you will contribute to the team:


Stakeholder management

  • Take a HR Business Partner approach working closely and collaboratively with the functions and main stakeholders including the Executive team.
  • Build strong and sustainable relationships using effective communication skills and providing professional advice, being visible and accessible and remaining delivery focussed.

Advisory and operational activities

  • Taking a proactive approach to identifying employee related issues such as performance management and providing early and pragmatic interventions.

Strategic HR

  • Support the Talent Acquisition process: from discussing the vacancies with the hiring managers, ensuring comparable salaries and grades are offered and providing challenge to recruitment decisions as appropriate. Support with interviews for senior vacancies.
  • Drive the Unit EDI action plan within divisions and share best practice at unit level.
  • Contribute to the HR business plan and drive initiatives by leading on key projects such as absence management, talent management, employee engagement.
  • Coach and support managers with the development and implementation of talent management and succession planning strategies.
  • Work with the business to identify and review key performance indicators and suggest improvements and efficiencies to best meet professional and business requirements.


Candidate specification:

Essential:

  • Chartered MCIPD (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a similar HR role.
  • Experienced and confident in managing complex ER cases from end to end.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills in business acumen, commercial awareness, emotional intelligence, and influencing at a senior level.
  • Experience of supporting talent management, succession planning and reward management programmes, challenging senior stakeholders where appropriate.
  • Resilient nature and confidence to provide challenge to, and accept challenge from, senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to quickly build effective, collaborative relationships with HR and other colleagues across the business.
  • Able to quickly learn, absorb and retain information and understand the business environment.
  • Sound knowledge and practical application of current UK employment law, procedures and processes.
  • Flexible approach to work and able to travel to other offices/sites.

Desirable:

  • Post qualification generalist experience in the private sector preferably in a consulting, professional services or construction/engineering environment.

What experience do I need:

The UK & Ireland Human Resources team is a part of Motorola Solutions’ International Markets HR Team, operating within a complex matrix organisation. The UK & Ireland HR Team supports various client groups at offices throughout the UK as well as a home based workforce.

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for an HR professional who brings a depth of expertise in organisational design, strategic HR management, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, the ability to navigate complex employee issues, and experience working with unions. As an HRBP, you will act as a strategic partner to senior leaders, aligning HR initiatives with business objectives to foster a high-performance culture and drive organisational success.


Job Description


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with business partners, working with leaders to understand their priorities and work pro-actively with them to provide value added business focused HR solutions and interventions.

  • Strong understanding of business operations, with the ability to align HR strategies to meet business objectives.

  • Educate leaders and employees on HR policy, process and procedure.

  • Provide coaching and training interventions.

  • Provide good practice HR advice, guidance and support to leaders and individual performers, including in respect of effective employee relations and employment law.

  • Operates as a trusted, credible HRBP.

  • Support aspects of recruitment, performance management and remuneration activity.

  • Support in the development of job descriptions, job evaluation and salary benchmarking.

  • Embed and sustain a high performance culture where leaders take ownership.

  • Lead organisational design efforts, ensuring structures, roles, and responsibilities are optimised for business efficiency and future growth.

  • Design and implement change management strategies to facilitate organisational transformation and enhance operational effectiveness.

  • Support leadership in identifying and implementing organisational improvement initiatives that foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Leverage HR metrics, analytics, and insights to inform decision-making and demonstrate HR’s impact on the business.

  • Provide regular reporting on key HR and business metrics, identifying trends and recommending actions to address emerging issues.

  • Partner with the HR team to ensure policies, processes, and tools are aligned with business goals and best practices.

  • Daily contact with leaders at all levels as well as employees.

  • Regular contact with other members of Professional Support Services, primarily legal counsel and Finance Business Partners.

  • Regular contact and experience of working with recognised trades unions.

  • Contact with suppliers and third party providers, for example external legal counsel, recruitment agencies and system hosts.
