Senior Buyer (Aerospace Programs)
Job Description
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Buyer (Aerospace Programs) to join one of our prestigious clients based near Macclesfield!
This role is central to supporting procurement strategy, driving supplier performance, and ensuring cost-efficiency across programs. You’ll play a key part in sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that align with company objectives in the aerospace sector. This is a dynamic position with significant influence on both program success and supplier strategy.
This is a Full-Time, Permanent position!
What you’ll be doing
- Develop and present procurement strategies to the Procurement Manager at project site reviews
- Lead Supplier Sourcing, RFQs, and negotiations on pricing, terms, and customer requirements
- Support supplier transfers and manage consignment/VMI transitions
- Oversee Program Procurement Change Control, including compliance with Export Control and ITAR
- Maintain program BOM accuracy, cost targets, and item data
- Communicate materials, pricing, and forecasts to suppliers
- Coordinate new work bids, work transfers, and NPI projects
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities and manage supplier risk using tools like Dun & Bradstreet
- Act as the escalation point for program-related cost, contractual, and supplier conflict issues
- Occasional travel within the UK and possibly abroad
Hours
Monday-Thursday 7:00am-4:30pm
Pay
Upto £45,500 per annum (Depending on Experience)
Skills/Experience Required
- Proven experience in procurement or strategic buying, with strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Experience within the Aerospace sector is essential – familiarity with its standards, regulations, and supplier networks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and knowledge of procurement processes
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Detail-oriented, with a focus on compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement
