Position responsibilities

  • You will be working autonomously on shifts but will be reporting to the maintenance Team Leader
  • Maintain and install all electrical plant & machinery in line with company requirements
  • React quickly, diagnose & repair any Electrical related problems on the plant or equipment.
  • Carry out a planned preventative maintenance schedule on the full range of equipment within the site.
  • Ensure that all plant and machinery is kept in a good, safe working & clean condition.
  • Interrogate PLC equipment such as Allen Bradley & Siemens.
  • Complete all relevant administration associated with the task being performed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Report any problems regarding equipment and machinery immediately to the Engineering Team Leader or the engineering co-ordinator.
  • Ensure that you are aware of the Company Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures and that you always adhere to them.
  • Promote Lean thinking and actively look for ways to improve efficiency.
  • Cross departmental communication with connected associates.
  • Complete Maintenance work requests, use of a CMMS system, Agility or similar
  • Able to work efficiently, without supervision


Experience required

  • Knowledge and experience of fault finding and repairs to industrial controls & systems
  • Ability to read, understand PLC logic and fault finding within
  • Knowledgeable with VSD’s
  • Able to read schematic drawings
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think outside the box
  • Use of Microsoft office tools is essential
  • Minimum qualifications
  • Time served indentured apprenticeship or equivalent
  • IET wiring regulations
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical/electronics
  • Proven manufacturing maintenance environment experience
  • Able to provide references.

£51,700 plus overtime + benefits

We are always looking towards the future and into ways to improve our processes and outputs. We rely on our colleagues and teams to identify how this can be done, with this in mind we are recruiting an experienced Shift Maintenance Electrician to join our Keele site.

What’s the mission?
Reporting to the Electrical Team Leader, your main responsibilities will be to ensure the continuous running of the production process by eliminating downtime through a safe and logical approach to fault-finding and maintenance of all site equipment and machinery. You will work on various types of equipment including complex hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic control systems. You’ll need to be electrically biased and able to commute to our Keele site daily.

You will be working a Continental 4 on 4 off shift pattern, (06:30 am – 6:30 pm and 6:30 pm – 06:30 am).

What are the mission-critical skills?

  • Excellent electrical engineering skills with mechanical experience is essential.
  • Apprentice trained Engineer to NVQ Level 3 standard in an Engineering discipline preferred.
  • JIB 18th edition qualified.
  • Execute PPM and provide input into systems & process improvements.
  • PLC fault finding and diagnostic skills (programming experience would be an advantage).
  • Support/provide input into feasibility studies, CAPEX & CI projects.
  • Be a team player with an attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of current environmental, health and safety regulations & requirements.
  • Ability to interrogate/understand maintenance problems to provide accurate plant condition information/recommendations.
  • Computer literate with excellent communication skills.
