We are currently representing a leading engineer company based in the Newry area who due to continued growth are recruiting for a Design Engineer to join their team

They have went from strength to strength over the past number of years and are now looking to add to their existing product range and enter in to new markets.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To design products that are technically feasible and commercially profitable
  • As appropriate, to research and keep up to date with new materials, parts and methods of deployment
  • To develop detailed engineering drawings for manufacturing, aligned to the company’s production processes and machinery
  • Use CAD design software to create models and drawings of products
  • Organise and maintain engineering records
  • Ensure components and designs meet applicable industry and business standards
  • Liaise with manufacturing to ensure that products are manufactured according to the drawing and designs, and to provide design engineering advice as required

To be considered for this role:

You will have a degree in Engineering with a minimum grade of 2:2 and have a good level of understanding in solid-works. Ideally you will have 2 years experience in mechanical design. Most importantly you will have a great attitude towards work and eager to kick start your career with a industry leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bespoke Design: Lead the design process for custom-engineered solutions, utilising your expertise in mechanical engineering to create innovative and efficient designs. Develop prototypes and iterate based on customer feedback.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and expertise in the development of bespoke solutions, ensuring that designs align with industry standards, safety regulations, and MasterMover’s high-quality standards.
  • Project Management: Manage bespoke engineering projects from concept to completion, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely and successful delivery of solutions.
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive engineering documentation, including detailed drawings, specifications, and project reports. Maintain accurate records of design iterations and project milestones.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Design Engineer, preferably in the field of material handling equipment or a related industry.
  • Expertise in 3D CAD software and proficiency in simulation tools.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with customers and internal teams.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to think outside the box in custom engineering scenarios.

MGF are currently seeking a Design Engineer to join a leading Temporary Works Engineering department, based in Astley, Manchester.

Specialising in temporary works design, the successful candidates will be working within a 35 strong engineering department in Manchester with full technical responsibility for your own projects.

Following an established, successful training programme, the successful candidate would have full technical responsibility for their own projects, be expected to manage their own designs and attend site meetings / inspections nationwide in support of their design work – initially supported by Senior Engineers. The position offers a high degree of responsibility very quickly for candidates with the right aptitude.


Your key responsibilities may include:

  • Production of Temporary Works designs and drawings on a day-to-day basis to satisfy customer demand
  • Checking your own designs and drawings in line with MGF’s quality procedures
  • To produce “one-off” project work as directed by the Engineering Management Team
  • Provide technical support to the Sales Team / Customer (project related/non-project related)
  • Contribute to the smooth and effective operation of the department
  • Follow MGF’s internal QA procedures self-management of allocated workload to meet customer / business demand


The core requirements for this role are:

  • Civil Engineering Degree

  • A professional manner with good communication skills
  • Strong IT skills

Experience working within a similar design role would be preferred but is not essential, as would structural design, geotechnical design, and temporary works knowledge.
