An opportunity has arisen for a proactive Support Engineer to provide support for our Armed Forces community.

Job Title: Support Engineer

Salary: Circa £45,000 depending on experience

Location: Stevenage (We may be able to offer a relocation package for this role)

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 2 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship.

The opportunity:

You will join a team supporting a specific product and there will be future opportunities to work with different products (missiles and weapons systems), across various platforms and with multiple customers in the UK and internationally as you develop your skills and care.

What we’re looking for from you:

Good interpersonal/communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships

Experience with IT tools such as SAP would be preferable but not essential
Engineering background with a degree or equivalent experience

Laser Optics Research Engineer

The opportunity:

The role will offer a mixture of design, lab work and field trials and you will work as part of a team in a fast paced environment delivering technology for the next generation of capability to the UK armed forces.

The successful applicant will be experienced in the prototype design and laboratory testing of optical assemblies. Speed, creativity and the ability to experiment will be key to the role, and you will conduct research on new techniques for laser pointing and tracking and be at the forefront of laser directed energy research.

You will become part of a diverse team of highly motivated scientists and engineers, who want to turn science fiction into reality by getting high energy lasers into service with the UK MoD as quickly as possible!

Industry experience and knowledge / laboratory skills using lasers, optics and imaging.

Ability to design, build, simulate and test new solutions to complex engineering problems
Ability to write physics/engineering simulations as part of the design process (such as Matlab, Zemax)

FC/ASW Mission Planning & Control Lead Architect

The opportunity:

As the Lead Architect, you will be responsible for the generation of all architectural artefacts within the boundary of TP15 Mission Planning & Control through a combination of your own work, as well as guiding other architects within the team. This project, and hence role, covers multiple product offerings, and as the Lead Architect, you will have the opportunity to strive to maximise modularity and re-use across these, as well as heavily support and influence the design process.

The Lead Architect role reports into the Head of TP15 Mission Planning & Control, and is expected to work and collaborate across other 1st reports to deliver on the overarching team objectives, on time, on cost and on quality.

What we’re looking for from you:

Strong background in complex systems architecture – including having been a practitioner of MBSE in a relevant environment.
Understanding or experience of key architectural principles in a product line environment would be advantageous.

Job description

Working in Delivery Management, you will oversee the successful execution of IT service projects that significantly impact Defence. This role ensures the successful delivery of projects, products, and services by coordinating teams, managing timelines, removing obstacles, and ensuring alignment with Defence Digital goals. Focusing on facilitating collaboration, tracking progress, and maintaining quality standards throughout the delivery process will be key.

Responsibilities:

Develop, guide, and support teams to ensure they remain motivated, collaborate effectively, and function cohesively. Promote and enable ongoing improvement within the delivery team.
As the point of contact for contracted suppliers, you will identify suitable contractual frameworks and choose the right suppliers for upcoming projects.
Carefully listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and accurately interpret their requirements.
Lead the project and in-service delivery of a dynamic and complex intelligence service, managing interdependencies across services while ensuring service continuity.
Facilitate the team’s delivery flow by managing the pace and rhythm, while proactively addressing risks, issues, and dependencies, including external ones.

Hybrid Working

Travel: MBDA has extensive and geographically diverse travel needs across Europe as well as the Americas, Middle and Far East. You will be an integral partner within our Business Travel Manager community, collaborating closely with our Travel Management Company and Online Booking Tool providers, car rental firms, airlines, hotel chains, providers but also venue finding agencies. Our goal is to ensure the needs of our business travellers are meet whilst also considering how to develop our Environmental, Social and Governance commitments.

Communications: MBDA’s communications include print and digital communications as well as trade shows and exhibitions or corporate events management both nationally and internationally. You would act as an extension to the MBDA Communications teams working with various suppliers commodities: photographic and video, goodies and mock-up, digital media and event management, international exhibitions related activities.

What we’re looking for from you:

Experience within Business Travel Procurement that you wish to develop further or Indirect Procurement with some existing Business Travel knowledge in any one of the following categories such as:
- TMC & OBT (Travel Management Companies and Online Booking tools)
- Car Rental
- Airlines
- Hotels
Willingness to travel as there are regular bi-annual team meetings that rotate between our sites in the UK, Rome and Paris (for specific projects there may also be travel required for partner or supplier meetings in these Natcos)
Comfortable working in an international context with the ability to build internal and international relationships
Develop in depth market knowledge (suppliers, services, technologies, business models, capabilities, innovation), taking into account risks / market opportunities and MBDA background and specificities
