About the role

Shieldhall packages a huge volume of Scotch malt whiskies, white spirits and ready to drink brands to supply over 170 countries around the world and is a key manufacturing site within the Scotch supply category.
As a Mechanical Engineer within our Packaging Team at Shieldhall, you will play a critical role in driving efficiency and making a positive impact on our operations by:
  • Ensuring optimal performance: Delivering efficient and effective maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and asset improvements to maximise availability across the site.
  • Collaborating with team members: Working closely with equipment owners and site teams to develop and implement maintenance plans while identifying and driving site-wide improvements.

Health and safety compliance is key and you’ll be at the forefront of making sure this is supervised alongside other Key Performance Indicators and targets such as production quality and HMRC compliance.
Shifts
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work 38 hours per week on an early/back shift rotation, with an obligation for occasional night shifts as required. Early shifts run from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm, while back shifts operate from 2:00 pm to midnight, Monday to Friday.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for someone who:
  • SVQ Level 3 is minimum requirement with a recognised hands-on apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Shown hands-on experience within a production environment and able to demonstrate understanding of asset performance and maintenance.
  • Experience in data analysis, use of applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and business systems such as SAP
  • Can work well within a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where they can solve problems.
  • Holds strong interpersonal and leadership skills with an ability to communicate with all levels across the site.
  • Able to push forward your own ideas about improvements to current approaches and appraise new opportunities. With a strive to make a positive difference to manufacturing excellence and show your excellent communication skills.

We design, develop and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the semiconductor and related global markets. Working alongside our existing Planning Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing best practice methodology in all Planning and material control functions. Your day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and understand key SPTS planning processes.
  • Generating SAP reports and creating controlled measures.
  • Understanding and creating Data to support KPI’s .

  • Generation and supply of relevant field documentation.
  • Analysis of customer install times
  • Real time support for field issues.
This position may give an opportunity for some international travel and working some shift patterns to fully utilise our state of the art development cleanroom. We will seek to give as much notice as possible where travel or shift work are required. SPTS will of course provide travel expenses and a shift allowance in line with company policy.

Product Management Introduction:
The Graduate Product Management Engineer (GPME), as part of the Product Management team, will be heavily involved in supporting systems sales efforts and setting the product roadmaps. Starting with qualifying the sales opportunity, the GPME will be answering questions from the sales team/customer, responding to customer specifications and visiting customer sites to progress the sales prospect.
In the factory the GPME will, alongside Process Engineers, manage customer demos, and when circumstances allow, host live demos with customers on site. Through interaction with various resources including the customer base, suppliers, analysts, etc: the GPME will develop an understanding of our markets and our position within those markets aiming to contribute to the overall product development and planning processes.
For product development activities, the GPME will be a part of the team creating and prioritising, roadmap targets. This will involve setting the scene for the business unit to follow using KLA Market Requirement Document (MRD) and Product Life Cycle (PLC) processes.
Product Management’s responsibilities don’t stop after the sales process has been completed. The GPME will assist the account teams providing updates on product development, market trends and acting as the customer representative in any factory-based work.
There will also be several opportunities to work with Corporate Marketing on the creation of promotional materials and attendance (virtual or in person) at trade shows/technical conferences will be a considerable part of the role.
This position may also involve occasional international travel.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responding to customer specification / procurement documents
  • Presenting to customers on products/technologies via Zoom or in person.
  • Generating throughput and Cost-of-Ownership (CoO) data using industry-standard models
  • Generating and updating System Configuration Documents (SCD)
  • Assisting with generation of Market Requirement Documents (MRD) as new opportunities are identified
  • Checking and editing demo reports before issuing to the sales team
  • Working with in-house market analytics resource to develop market size projections
  • Hosting / co-hosting / coordinating customer visits for live demonstrations or show & tell
  • Developing and maintaining contacts with customers
  • Providing input for marcomms press releases / applications briefs / website content / webinars
  • Writing and submitting abstracts and papers to relevant conferences and trade shows
