Your Role

The main area of responsibility is the management of all activities associated with the operation. This includes AOG Management, prompt receipt, handling, storage, inspection packing and despatch of all items, ensuring total accuracy and quality at all times. Also to ensure all
operations are conducted safely and in line with the latest working instructions, and are compliant in line with DG and Pt 145 requirements.

Your Responsibilities

• Co-ordinating the workload across the operation and reporting to the Operations
  Manager in the event of needing extra resource or overtime.
• Continuously develop a highly motivated workforce and help drive KNPS and
  SC21 principles.
• Hold daily meetings with the team to communicate work levels and solve any
  issues that may be raised.
• Recruit and induct new starters into the business using the agreed induction
  process.
• Ensure that all new starters are enrolled onto the departmental training plan and
  are fully trained in all areas with ongoing support whilst employed by KN.
• Facilitate the receipt, handling, storage, inspection packing and despatch of all customers’ assets and all associated tasks in line with the agreed contract.
• Be competent to oversee Goods Receiving Inspection in line with Pt 145 and Gulfstream QA requirements, hold a receiving approval and assist in receiving activity if volumes demand.
• Be competent to oversee DG packing and despatch in line with all DG regulations and HMRC requirements, hold DG packing qualifications and assist in packing and despatch activity if volumes demand.
• Take the responsibility for safe-keeping, delivery and accounting for customers
  goods. Provide a professional responsive service for information to customers.
• Continually seek to identify areas for improvement in all activities / personnel under
  your direct control.
• Promote the company’s policies on health & safety, quality, environment, induction
  and training, as well as other relevant matters in the company information manual.
• Maintain regular, two-way communication of relevant information with K+N
  colleagues, in order to promote pro-active relationships

Working within a high performing team, your role will be to procure air freight costs and flights, book and process export shipments on an allocation or adhoc basis to strict deadlines. From an import perspective you will also plan and monitor full utilisation of trucks. Your Responsibilities

• Capacity procurement and rate negotiation on scheduled flights, charter and part charter services.
• Export: Produce and prepare documents for transit of cargo, ensure customs declarations, security checks are complete and issue check certificates. You will also follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s), create accurate accruals, recover compromised route plans, negotiate spot rates, increase or decrease allocations, optimise processes and support safe unit load device (ULD) builds and manage ULD equipment.
• Import: Truck planning and optimisation, ensuring a high level of communication with UK branch, Airport Transfer and warehouse colleagues in the UK, Frankfurt and Amsterdam; build strong relationships with stakeholders internally and externally too; Frankfurt Pallet Management, issue management, performance management, volume reporting, truck P&L responsibility and closing down outstanding customs matters.
• From a QSHE perspective you will ensure you cooperate with all stakeholders and are aware of company procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure continuous Improvement is driven operationally through the corrective and preventive action process (CAPA), Supplier Management and by actively promoting a culture of continual improvement.

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Air Logistics Gateway & Procurement Team Leader. As one of the world’s leading air freight providers, at Kuehne+Nagel we shape the world of logistics by connecting people and goods through innovative and sustainable solutions.

Your Role

Leading a high performing team, your role will be to steer a team which is responsible for procuring air freight costs and flights, book and process export shipments on an allocation or adhoc basis to strict deadlines. From an import perspective, they also plan and monitor full utilisation of trucks. You will also be responsible for maintaining quality standards in security, health and safety as well as that of the environment in relation to these three key areas.

Your Responsibilities

• Capacity procurement and rate negotiation on scheduled flights, charter and part charter services.
• Export: Produce and prepare documents for transit of cargo, ensure customs declarations, security checks are complete and issue check certificates. You will also follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s), create accurate accruals, recover compromised route plans, negotiate spot rates, increase or decrease allocations, optimise processes and support safe unit load device (ULD) builds and manage ULD equipment.
• Import: Truck planning and optimisation, ensuring a high level of communication with UK branch, Airport Transfer and warehouse colleagues in the UK, Frankfurt and Amsterdam; build strong relationships with stakeholders internally and externally too; Frankfurt Pallet Management, issue management, performance management, volume reporting, truck P&L responsibility and closing down outstanding customs matters.
• From a QSHE perspective you will ensure you cooperate with all stakeholders and are aware of company procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure continuous improvement is driven operationally through the corrective and preventive action process (CAPA), Supplier Management and by actively promoting a culture of continual improvement.
• Ensure full compliance with regulatory and legislative authorities. (i.e., Full Import and export compliance ETSF regulations and aviation security regulations).
• Ensure a safe system of work and a safe working environment is maintained.at all times, by addressing unsafe acts, full compliance with ISO 45001 standards and related Kuehne+Nagel work instructions and guidance.

Your Skills and Experiences

• Demonstrable experience within air freight specifically with capacity and rate negotiation experience on commercial and charter carriers.
• Experience of governance and control in relation to Dangerous Goods, Customs and Aviation Security.
• You will have a good understanding of Aircraft types and configurations, routings and equipment experience.
• Understanding of ULD builds.
