We are seeking a talented and creative 3D Designer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in digital design and a passion for creating visually stunning 3D models and animations. Alloy Wheel 3D Designer
(Autodesk Alias/Rhinoceros 3D)An Alloy Wheel 3D Designer (Autodesk Alias/Rhinoceros 3D), using your design and engineering experience alongside innovative thinking, you will be tasked with working with our team to create and develop Alloy wheel designs in 3D for existing and future projects. Candidates will be expected to manage their own time and be drivers of their respective projects. Candidates will report to our Automotive Design Manager and CEO and this position resides in the Kahn Headquarters in Bradford, West Yorkshire and moving to Leeds West Yorkshire in early 2025. Must be able to use Rhinoceros 3D to a high standard
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Automotive Design Manager and CEO in the development of wheel concepts for potential Kahn vehicle programs.
- Sketch modelling and preparation of 3D models and renderings for review and sign-off
- Contribute effectively to team discussions to ensure understanding of any proposed design changes and their impact
- Support other designers where necessary to ensure the successful transition from 2D to 3D design stages for wheel proposals
- Provide information and support to senior management, including during design reviews.
- Manage workload to ensure deadlines are met.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Educated to degree level, with previous automotive experience essential
- Excellent fluency in Autodesk Alias/Rhinoceros 3D software essential
- Familiarity with knowledge of component manufacturing/tooling requirements and an understanding about how this impacts on product design essential
- Ability to interrogate and understand 3D data received from Wheel Suppliers/Manufacturers to provide optimised route to production whilst maintaining design intent essential
- Skills in any additional 3D software advantageous
- Keyshot rendering skills preferred
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop desirable.
- The ability to explain concepts and convey technical design-related ideas to others
- Good freehand sketching skills desirable
