Gripped London is now recruiting for an Assistant General Manager to lead the team to continued success and ensure our visitors have the best and safest experience.

About the Company

Escapade Group Limited operate the ultimate indoor and outdoor adventure parks. Currently operating six attractions with three popular brands, Hobbledown (and Watermouth Castle), Kidspace and Gripped, The business has ambitious plans to grow and expand. At present, there is an established Hobbledown Adventure Farm Park & Zoo at Epsom, Hobbledown Heath alongside Gripped, the best Adrenaline park in the South and two incredible indoor play and children’s party venues at Croydon and Romford, and in 2023, we acquired the wonderful Watermouth Castle, one of Devon’s best loved attractions.

We welcome over 1m visitors a year through our doors and host over 7000 birthday parties a year.

About the Role

The Assistant General Manager will support and deputise for the General Manager of Gripped and Hobbledown Heath and in off peak times, work at Hobbledown Heath as part of the wider management team. Managing and overseeing a team, this role will train, motivate and lead a team to ensure they are fully engaged and compliant in delivering the best and safest visitor experience possible. Driving the visitor experience on the ground, ensuring the attractions are maintained, well-presented, ensuring all activities are operated safely at all times ensuring a safe environment for all visitors and teams, are all fundamental elements of the role.

This is a varied role which will involve working in all areas and departments, including Duty Management shifts.

Based in Hounslow, this is a full-time permanent position and will work any five days out of seven. The salary for this role is up to £32,000/annum, plus team benefits.


About the Person

We are looking for a strong Assistant General Manager who is:

      • A proven manager who leads by example
      • Physically fit and not afraid of heights, and a bit of an adrenaline junkie!
      • Passionate about delivering the best visitor experience
      • Focussed on health and safety, training, team engagement
      • Adhering to the company Health & Safety Policy, communicate all relevant health & safety to teams and report any issues of non-compliance immediately
      • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure safe working environment
      • Able to respond to visitor feedback and issues and ensure a positive outcome
      • Resilient and tenacious
      • Dynamic, creative and solutions focussed. Organised, structured and always striving for excellence and continuous improvement
      • Well presented, confident and outgoing and comfortable working in a very fast paced environment
      • Previous experience of working in a visitor attraction/venue is highly attractive

Off ground experience and IOSH/ERCA Certificate is also desirable for this role. We also encourage working and sharing best practice across all of our attractions.
