Maison Estelle is a private club set in a Grade I-listed Georgian townhouse on Grafton Street, Mayfair. A ‘hosted home’, bringing people together that have plenty to say and nothing to prove. A new school club (no rules), with old school values of personalised service and discretion.

As a Bar Back you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth running of the bars throughout the club. Your role will include, preparing mise en place for the bars and opening and closing them ensuring the Bar team have everything they need to exceed members’ needs and expectations whilst on shift. You should uphold the highest standards and ensure the member experience is always in line with our standards.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The key responsibilities for this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Washing glasses and store them in the correct place according to the members club SOP’s.
  • Overseeing the dish washer’s maintenance and ensure it is cleaned daily.
  • Restocking the bars as required by the Bartenders.
  • Keeping the bar and BOH areas clean and tidy, including the area behind the bar counter and shelves.
  • Ensuring that at the end of the shift the bars are deep cleaned every time.
  • Refilling fridges and move stock between the cellars and bars as and when required following stock requisition process where appropriate.
  • Helping with receiving deliveries and storing goods in the appropriate manner informing the management team of any discrepancies.
  • Preparing fruit, garnishes and homemade syrups and bitters in collaboration with the Bartenders and Head Bartenders.
  • Preparing alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for our members when required.
  • Helping the Bartenders to organise the bar area to streamline drink preparation and inventory.
  • Maintaining a thorough working knowledge of the entire bar menu, including the beer, wine and cocktail lists.
  • Assisting with other tasks such as tidying up and restocking the bar and supporting the rest of the front of house team as necessary.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Previous Bar Back experience in a busy and high-volume hospitality operation is desirable but not essential.
  • Planning ability; able to work unsupervised.
  • Attention to detail, able to identify mistakes and request clarification.
  • Excellent time-management skills; comfortable prioritising what is important during busy periods.
  • Good communication skills and comfortable talking to colleagues, senior management, and members.
  • Good command of English.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and hosting.
