Role: Butcher
Rate: £21.28 per hour,
Contract: Permanent
Location: Pontefract, WF8 3DD
Hours: 5:00am to 14:00pm Monday to Friday

A committed team of over 800 staff oversee the whole process: from procuring the best possible livestock from our carefully picked group of farms, through butchery, retail packaging and despatch before it finally arrives on the supermarket shelf or as part of the restaurant dining experience.


About you:

  • Experienced butcher with proven experience of different cuts.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ideally have your own transport
  • Flexible in your ability to work on your own or within a Team
  • Enjoy working to targets


Role:

  • Prepare, trim, cuts of meat
  • Achieve daily production targets
  • Minimising waste
  • Packing
  • Set up and operate machinery such as; Vac Pack and multi-scales
  • Ensure that all Standard Operating Procedures and Company specifications are strictly adhered to

Job Description

BUTCHER

  • Must be butcher trained and have experience in handling and breaking down of meat.
  • Process and prepare beef, lamb & pork for the farm shop retail counters.
  • Must have an extensive knowledge of meat cuts and standard weights.
  • Prepare steaks, cutlets, and loins.
  • Must know how to determine which portions to grind and decide how much meat to make into products such as sausages, minced meat etc.
  • Butcher trained preferably and able to assist current butcher break down beef carcass, pork and lambs.

About us: Morris’ of Usk is an award-winning family run garden centre, farm shop and restaurant for over 40 years. Within the farm shop there is a bakery, butchery and deli counter all serving freshly made food produced on site. The butchery department offers the family’s home reared beef and lamb straight from the farm along with an extensive variety of quality meats and ready meals.
