Role Overview:

As a Care Assistant, you will be expected to contribute to an environment of meaningful engagement, social interaction, and positive emotional well-being for our residents, whilst developing your own personal experience and qualifications.

You will put our residents at the centre of care, promoting choice and independence and taking time to build relationships and get to know them.

Experience and NVQ Level 2 are preferred but not essential.


Role expectations:

  • To provide care following best practice and legislative requirements under the direction of the Senior Carer/Nurse.
  • To support and enable residents to maintain skills and personal interests whilst delivering person-centred care unique to each individual.
  • To maintain skills at a current level, undertake such training and development as required from time to time to maintain and progress knowledge.
  • To contribute to the efficient running of the home.
  • Support residents to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community.
  • Ensure Care Plans and other information about how to support residents are followed.
  • Be responsible for informing the Senior Carer/Nurse of any changes in the needs of residents in your care.
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of those individuals you support.
  • Develop effective working relationships with other employees within the home.
  • Work in cooperation with members of the multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for staff.
  • Be a role model for other carers and be an ambassador for the service.
  • Be professional, polite, and reasonable at all times.
  • Knowledge of, and work within, the Fundamental Standards.
  • Understand the regulatory framework that governs the service, including the role of CQC and their requirements.
  • Commit to achieving the relevant qualifications commensurate with the role.
  • Attend statutory training and any other training as directed by management.
  • Understand and follow all policies and procedures relevant to the role.

Ryan Meadows Care Home is a purpose-built home situated in Nerston Village which is a residential area on the outskirts of East Kilbride. It has easy access to local amenities and transport links. Accommodation is provided over two floors, with 60 single rooms, five with en-suite shower facilities and 55 with en-suite toilet facilities. There is a passenger lift providing access to each floor where there is a spacious communal lounge, dining area and bathing facilities. There is a well maintained, spacious garden area for residents and their visitors to use and also a car park to the rear of the home.

Main Responsibilities:

Duties

To travel to the residence of clients who are having difficulty coping for a variety of reasons;

To complete all services for that client, as specified in their individual Care Plan;

To work within the 24 hour rota system, which includes Bank Holidays, weekends and evenings. My Homecare attempt to provide working times suitable for employees, though this is not always possible;

To be contactable via a mobile phone if necessary information needs communicated to yourself about a client;

All equipment/uniforms etc. will be provided by the Company; and,

Employees should be accountable to the Registered Manager or their delegated deputies.
