The Governors of Hightown Junior, Infant and Nursery School are seeking to appoint a caretaker who will work to support the school in all areas of maintenance, cleanliness, health and safety and security. About the role:

Monarch Education are currently searching for an experienced Caretaker & Buildings Supervisor to be appointed in a secondary school based in North Birmingham for an ongoing contract all year round. The role will require the candidate to ensure building security at the end of the school day as well as the unlocking of grounds at agreed times.

Our client are looking for a well rounded individual who will have the ability to communicate and interact well with both pupils and adults, including the desire to work proactively and ability to support the site team as required with a commitment to ensure site security at all times to ensure pupils, staff and visitors’ safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Have good understanding of site maintenance.
  • Experienced in carrying out statutory compliance checks such as fire and intruder alarm testing, emergency light testing and asbestos visual awareness checks.

  • Seasonal work such as gritting or clearing of leaves/snow.
  • Undertaking rubbish removal as necessary keeping school buildings, entrance areas and playgrounds are clean and tidy which will include some gardening duties.
  • Have good knowledge of health and safety issues surrounding schools and building supervision.
  • Enthusiasm and commitment to work as part of a team or independently and learning new skills.
