Belper School and Sixth Form Centre are looking for and enthusiastic and dedicated Catering Assistant to join our school Catering Team.

The role involves basic food preparation, general kitchen duties and serving food to students and staff. The successful candidate will hold a Food Hygiene Certificate and will enjoy working co-operatively and flexibly as part of a team.

Hours: 5 days per week, 23 hours 45 minutes per week, 39 weeks per annum

(Term time only plus 5 INSET days 8.30am – 1.15pm)

Actual Salary: Grade 2 £12,902 per annum (term time only plus 5 INSET days) (Salary based on Grade 2 £12.17 per hour and includes annual leave and bank holiday entitlements).

Role Purpose

As a Catering Assistant, you will typically be based at the Bridge Café at Deep Sea World. To assist in the running of the catering outlets in an efficient manner, offering excellent customer service, maximising sales and complying with all hygiene rules and regulations.

Duties/ Responsibilities

To ensure the café area is clean and maintained to a high standard; following guidelines, opening/closing checklists and cleaning schedules

Taking food and drink orders using an electronic till
Making fresh hot drinks using an automated machine and serving soft drinks
Preparing food in the kitchen to the highest quality
Help deliver birthday parties

Learning and honing skill set vital to the catering industry to maintain a professional and efficient work environment
Ensuring all HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) guidelines and H&S (Health & Safety) policies are followed correctly and safely
