City of Doncaster Council delivers a wide range of vital services meeting the needs of those who live, work and visit the borough and you have an opportunity to be part of this. We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate individual to join our Tree Team within the Street Scene service.

Street Scene is a high-profile service responsible for delivering the Council’s ‘Cleaner, Greener’ commitments and providing a high-quality living environment for the citizens of Doncaster. The Council’s commitment to this programme has seen significant investment into our tree management programme and Tree Team in recent years.

Trees play an especially important role in enhancing the quality of life across the borough by, amongst other things, improving air quality by acting as natural air filters removing dust, smoke and fumes from the atmosphere, removing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. The Council’s Tree Team is responsible for the maintenance and care of around 80,000 trees on Council owned land and over 500Ha of public woodland. We also provide a 24 hour/365-day emergency tree call-out service.

We are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and adaptable arborist to lead one of our specialists Arbouricultural crews. The ideal candidate will possess certification in all relevant chainsaw, climbing, aerial rescue, MEWP, rigging and grounds operations and have a strong work ethic, excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as the necessary supervisory and motivation skills to manage a team and ensure that tree works are completed safely and within timescales. This role would suit an already experienced climbing arborist with some experience of leading a team or those wanting to progress into becoming a chargehand arborist. Full uniform and PPE will be provided.

Career development is something we take seriously, and we are committed to providing our employees with the knowledge, skills and experience to grow. With a strong and supportive management behind you, you’ll play a key part in helping us achieve our aims and assist in driving forward our vision to shape Doncaster’s urban forest for the benefit of present and future generations.

If you are interested and want to find more about joining us, please contact us on the numbers below.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.

Please ensure you view the job summary and job profile as you will need to demonstrate in your application form how you meet the required criteria.

If you require support with completing the application or with interview skills in general, please contact the Advance team via email
