CHEF

Our passionate team create all manner of wonderful dishes, and draw real inspiration from the unique opportunity of having Macknade as their kitchen larder, handpicking the finest ingredients from our on-site butchery, green grocery and delicatessen.
We also love to showcase our food in the summer months with our daily Food Village, offering a variety of food and drink options.
THE ROLE
This role is suitable for someone with a love of food and a passion to work within a creative and inspirational kitchen. The successful candidate will be looking to learn new skills and develop themselves further. This would be a great opportunity for someone recently qualified, who is looking to begin their Chef career or someone wanting to move into professional cookery. Previous kitchen experience or an industry related qualification is required.
The successful candidate is expected to work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team ensuring a fantastic Macknade experience for our customers and the highest quality food. The principle responsibility will be to ensure an outstanding food product for our customers, under the supervision of the Head Chef.
The role will include all aspects of the day to day operation of a successful food business working to serve the Café and Food Village. There will also be a requirement to help in other areas across the Macknade Group as necessary.
We are looking for a full time position of 42.5 hours per week, although part time hours can be discussed, and this will include working at weekends. Hours of work will vary, with the Café open 7 days a week and occasional evenings.
The salary is £12.00 per hour and the annual leave is 28 days including Bank Holidays for a full time position.

Responsible To: Head Chef
Summary of post: To be responsible for the delivery of outstanding food to all customers at the Faversham site
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To be responsible for the preparation and delivery of consistently high quality of food from our kitchen
2. To support the Head chef in the development of dishes and menus to showcase our outstanding produce and skillset
3. Ensuring stock and preparation is maintained at sufficient levels to ensure a smooth service period daily and in line with budget.
4. With the support of the Head Chef follow and deliver the day to day operation of the kitchen and Food Village
5. To lead in and ensure the Macknade vision, ethos and values are at the heart of the customer experience at every touchpoint.
6. To participate in the staff support and development scheme and to undertake training based on individual and operational needs.
7. To comply with legislative requirements, company policies and guidelines in respect to health & safety and data protection ensuring a 5* hygiene rating is achieved
8. To ensure full stock rotation and storage of products is in line with company policy
9. To demonstrate positive personal and professional behavior as specified in the Staff Code of Conduct.
10. To undertake any other duties as reasonably requested.

Skills and ability
Ability to work as part of, and occasionally lead a small team to deliver an outstanding product at all times
Effective organisational skills with the ability to successfully deliver in a high pressure environment.
A clear passion to build on the Macknade reputation for offering high quality, value for money and an outstanding experience.
Kitchen experience in a similar dynamic and fast paced business and/or an industry related qualification
Detailed knowledge of high quality food and drink
