Our Children’s Home in Hampshire is looking for a number of Residential Support Workers to join their team and be part of something special.

With help from your manager and a team of passionate Support Workers you will be working alongside children and young people in residential settings who need a kind, caring and fun place to live despite the challenges they may bring.

Our young people are between 8-18 years old who display emotional, behavioural difficulties. This is why we are looking for motivated, determined and resilient staff who are flexible and able to adapt to challenging situations.

When you join us you will be working to a rota working 39 hours per week which will be completed as shifts including long days and sleep-ins.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications and experience are always welcome but aren’t necessary to join us as a Residential Support Worker.

Our team is passionate about supporting children’s individual hobbies, needs, and skills whilst making meaningful memories. We are looking to recruit dynamic, innovative, caring, and experienced Children’s Support Workers to join our growing team on a full-time basis (37.5 hours per week).

Mayfield Lodge is a unique 3-bedroom children’s home in Bournemouth, supporting children with learning disabilities. We are dedicated to making them feel safe, not just in their homes but also in the surrounding areas.

What we offer our Children’s Support Workers:

Qualified Children’s Support workers earn up to £31,812.30 per annum:

  • Support workers with a completed Level 3 in residential childcare £12.45 per hour (£24,277.50 per year for full time hours)
  • Additional sleep-in shifts available paid at £63 per night – amounting to £7,534.80 per annum

Non-Qualified Support workers earn up to £31,227.30 per annum:

  • Support workers without Level 3 basic rate of pay from £12.15ph for Support Workers (£23,692.50 per year for full time hours)
  • Additional sleep-in shifts available paid at £63 per night – amounting to £7,534.80 per annum

We have a 3-week rolling rota including sleep-ins. Shifts are typically 7am to 7:30am with a sleeping night and you will work 1 in 3 weekends. A typical rota will look like:

  • Week 1 = 2 days (example Wednesday & Friday)
  • Week 2 = 2 days (example Tuesday & Thursday)
  • Week 3 = 3 days (example Monday, Saturday & Sunday)

As a Children’s Support Worker you will be responsible for:

  • Acting as a corporate parent to care for, support and meet the needs of the children
  • Cooking, cleaning, assisting with homework and participating in activities
  • Safeguarding and promoting welfare of children
  • To ensure all paperwork is completed to a high standard
  • Supporting Children and young people with appointments/health checks

The home will use a therapeutic approach and will use the PACE model of parenting in order to support our children and young people who have experienced trauma and difficulties. Therefore, experience working with children in a support setting is essential.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 1 year experience working with Children
  • Full driving licence
  • NVQ Level 3 in residential childcare (or equivalent)

We are urgently recruiting for children’s support workers in the Sheerness area. We need people who have experience working with children and young adults who have autism and learning difficulties. The clients live in their own home and the children’s support worker will take them out for activities.

Our clients are vulnerable adults between the age of 0-18 years old who have needs including:

  • autism
  • challenging behaviour
  • learning difficulties.

To become a children’s support worker you must:

  • be a driver
  • have business insurance as the support staff will be expected to take clients out for activities such as shopping, social events, days out and appointments
  • have experience with autism/learning difficulties
  • be able to work after school, weekends and school holidays


Requirements for Children’s support worker

Children’s support worker shifts vary between 3 hour and 8 hours per day and are usually after school, weekends and school holidays.

Experience is necessary due to the complexity of the clients we have.


About Domiciliary Care Experts

Domiciliary Care Experts specialises in working with service users and their families who require care in their own home. We offer a tailor made service of person-centred care.

Our visit times range from 30 minutes to full live in support. We also have our own complex care department, DCE Complex Care. It provides care for people who have more complex care requirements with support workers who are fully trained and competent with tracheostomy care, gastrostomy care, epilepsy management, acquired brain injury and spinal card injuries.

Job Title: Children’s Residential Support Worker – Learning disabilities

Location: Southampton

Salary: £26,364 – £27,783 per year PLUS additional £3,000-£6,000 per year for sleep-ins
