We are seeking a Clinical Lead to join our dynamic and caring team at Drovers Call Care Home. You must be committed and passionate in your clinical practice. You will also need to be knowledgeable in the standards expected within this framework and driven to deliver to the highest standard of care.

Rate of pay – from £23.50

Contracted hours – 40 hours over a 7 day period.

Purpose of the Role

  • To have responsibility for leading, supporting and facilitating the nursing and medical needs of service users
  • To positively support the Registered Manager in providing leadership to the care staff
  • To positively support the Deputy Manager and the Registered Manager in providing leadership to the care and support staff

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure service users are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences are acted upon
  • The efficient and effective day-to-day management of care delivery and the staff team to ensure that required standards are maintained
  • Ensure all recording systems and organisational documentation are of a high standard and kept up to date
  • Provide support and guidance for care staff on nursing and medical matters that are in the scope of being a clinical lead
  • Act as a shift leader to monitor and direct the effective running of the unit or other defined area of responsibility
  • Ensure all staff receive formal supervision and appraisals
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the duty rota. ensuring skills mix and numbers on duty are appropriate for the assessed needs of the service users
  • Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service
  • Understand when external healthcare support is required, and liaise with them to ensure best outcomes for people that use services

Identify information, concerns and ideas for improvement and share them with senior management of the service

  • Develop effective working relationships with all employees within the service
  • Be proactive and provide guidance, support and leadership to staff
  • Work in cooperation with members of the multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for people in the service

We are looking to recruit a passionate, committed and motivated Clinical Lead for our nursing and residential care home for the elderly. Accountabilities:

  • Completing clinical supervisions, for all nurses, in a timely manner and actioning any issues arising, ensuring they are recorded and signed by both parties
  • Ensuring that the nurses and senior carers have completed all care plans and risk assessments accurately and that they reflect the needs of the residents. That all care plans and risk assessments have been reviewed and updated
  • Auditing nurse practices and compiling suitable action plans with appropriate time scales
  • Ensuring all nurses work in manner that exceeds the expectations of the CQC requirements
  • Ensure all nurses work within the NMC and NICE guidelines
  • Monitoring the quality of care to ensure it is delivered in a person-centred manner to ensure the highest standards of care
  • To develop the nursing practices to bring new and innovative ideas
  • Deputising in the absence of the manager
  • To have a good understanding of all residents’ clinical needs
  • To ensure the smooth transition of all new residents with regard to their clinical needs
  • To monitor the use of the dependency tool which will be used to reflect adequate safe staffing levels
  • Monitor the administration of all medication by nurses and senior carers to ensure they are fully competent in all areas and to report and deal with any areas of concern.
  • Ensuring all nursing staff are suitably trained and competent in all key areas
  • Participate in the emergency out of hours on call system
  • Complete assessments at various locations for potential new residents, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the doctor’s surgery and approved pharmacy, to ensure adequate supplies of all medications at all times
  • Reporting all issues and concerns to the manager and in the absence of the manager dealing with these concerns through the appropriate route
  • Liaising and communicating with outside professionals and representing Midland care Home and the company in a positive image.
  • Take responsibility for own self development and training opportunities
  • Attending forums and other opportunities to promote the company and develop further links with outside agencies
  • Attend and lead meetings and take minutes as required
  • Work on the floor as a direct nurse as required in time of essential cover

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Qualification as an RGN, RMN or RNLD Nurse required;
  • Must have a valid NMC PIN registration;
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a Senior Nursing position required.

Objective

Applications are now welcome for the role of Clinical Lead at Castlehill Care Home, Inverness.

Our care home has an excellent local reputation for high quality care and offers dementia and physical disability nursing care packages in beautiful, modern surroundings.

The role is a permanent, full-time contract working 38.5 hours per week, providing support mainly days, but night shifts when required.

As Clinical Lead, you will review, manage and monitor care plans and medication records. You will work closely with the Home Manager to ensure all induction and mandatory training is completed, and appropriate professional support is provided to senior staff and team leaders.

Skills, Experience and Qualification

The successful candidate will be an NMC registered Adult General Nurse/RGN, Mental Health Nurse/RMN or a Learning Disability Nurse/RNLD. Previous experience in a similar role would be preferable.
