About the role

Located in Malvern, Worcestershire, Morgan Motor Company Limited is an innovative British sports car manufacturer known for its hand-crafted sports cars. During a pivotal moment in its history, Morgan is investing significantly in new vehicle projects whilst expanding its expertise in delivering exceptional client experiences.

The company’s Creative team, located in its dedicated Design Centre, delivers vehicle, product, and corporate brand design solutions. The team oversees designs from concept to production, for core and special vehicles, whilst collaborating closely with engineering and coachbuilding teams. In addition, Morgan designers often work directly with customers to curate their personal vehicle specifications.

Reporting to the Chief Design Officer and supporting the Head of Industrial Design, this role offers a CMF Designer the chance to lead the design and development of colours and materials for future vehicles and individual clients. As a key member of Morgan’s dedicated design team, the role spans the entire design process, from concept to realization, while shaping future materiality strategies and refining processes to deliver exceptional, personalized customer experiences.


The Right Person

We are looking for a CMF Designer, preferably with degree level qualification (from a relevant design, textile, material science or arts course), and with a minimum of 3 years industry experience. The successful candidate should demonstrate strong self-management ability. The role is of creative nature, contributing solutions to support all phases of both the product design and the customer specification journey and will require work on various projects at any one time.

The Candidate must be passionate about their work, a strong communicator and one who delights in presenting and developing ideas with colleagues and clients. This is a primarily office-based role, requiring an inquisitive attitude and ability to work to deadlines is essential.


Roles and responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an In-depth understanding of automotive colour, material and finish design
  • Exhibit Passion for creative material and colour application that spans product and media industries
  • Actively interpret and present relevant and emerging industry design and material trends
  • Have excellent interpersonal / social skills, particularly for the following purposes:
    • Direct contact with customers to consult on their car specifications and facilitate/develop their bespoke requests as part of a premium client experience
    • Cross functional collaboration between design, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, project management and sales teams.
    • Engaging new and existing suppliers

  • Drive creative exploration and introduction of new materials to the Morgan palette that compliment Morgan’s commitment to craftsmanship, coachbuilding and sustainability
  • Input creative CMF aspirations at the start of new automotive design projects and develop them in tandem with the design team
  • Curate specifications for Morgan prototype cars, dealer demonstrator cars, limited editions and fleet vehicles that creatively compliment the brand and specific product
  • Design and Curate point-of-sale facilities (for both on site and within the showrooms of Morgan’s global retail partners) with new tools and environments dedicated to configuring specifications
  • Candidates must be able to hit the ground running, multi-task on several projects simultaneously, prioritise their workload accordingly and take responsibility for their jo
  • Must exhibit a high level of competency with dedicated design software, including but not limited to; Adobe creative suite programs and a rendering software (such as VRED / Keyshot / Blender)
  • Be able to work predominantly on site at Morgan in Malvern yet be willing to travel as required
