CNC Machinist (Okuma) / Manual Turner (Colchester)

Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced CNC Machinist (Okuma) / Manual Turner (Colchester) to join one of our prestigious clients based in Congleton!

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the production of precision parts, working with a variety of CNC machines and controls, including Okuma CNC and manual lathes (Colchester). If you are an expert in setting and operating CNC machines, this could be the perfect role for you!

This is a Full-Time, Permanent position!

What you’ll be doing

• Interpret engineering drawings and associated paperwork to determine correct manufacturing processes
• Set up and operate CNC equipment (Okuma CNC, manual lathes, 2-axis machines)
• Ensure calibration of measuring and production equipment before use
• Select and set up tools, reporting any defects or worn tooling
• Record time expended and components lost on internal system
• Comply with quality standards and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement
• Inspect work to ensure it meets required standards
• Participate in training and support the training of new personnel

Hours

Monday-Thursday 7:00am-4:30pm

Pay

£16.83 per hour / £31,505.76 per annum

Skills/Experience Required

• Experience in engineering or manufacturing, specifically with CNC machining
• Proficiency in setting and operating Okuma CNC machines and manual lathes (Colchester)
• Competence in operating 2-axis machines
• Experience with manufacturing jigs and assembly aids
• NVQ Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent
• Competence in reading engineering drawings and following job cards
• Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect and measure work accurately
• Enthusiastic, can-do attitude, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
