Job Description

*Overview*

We are seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join our team in the manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to fabricate metal and plastic parts.

*Duties*
The successful candidates would be expected to have knowledge of working in an JIT Engineering Environment and have experience of the following machinery and control systems.

CMZ Lathe TC35 Series – Fanuc 32i Model B

Colchester Alpha Combination Lathe Fanuc OI-TF

Dugard EC01000VMC – Simens 828D

– Programme CNC machines using logic controllers

– Utilise SolidWorks software for programming

– Handle materials for machining processes

– Operate and maintain milling machines

– Apply mechanical knowledge to tooling and fabrication tasks

– Assemble components using hand tools

– Perform welding tasks as required

*Skills*

– Proficiency in logic controllers for CNC programming

– Experience with SolidWorks software

– Knowledge of materials handling in a manufacturing environment

– Ability to operate milling machines effectively

– Strong mechanical knowledge for tooling applications

– Skill in fabricating components accurately

– Competency in using hand tools for assembly work

– Welding skills to perform necessary tasks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £16.50-£18.50 per hour

Expected hours: 50 per week

CNC Programmer

I am currently working on behalf of a leading Engineer company who produce precision parts to a number of clients.

They are continuing to invest in their infrastructure and people and are making great strides in innovation and are growing at a good rate.

They are now currently recruiting for a CNC Programmer to join their team

Job responsibilities

  • Create programs for CNC lathes and turn-mill machines, from technical drawings and other sources.
  • Perform set up and prove out on CNC lathes and turn mill machines.
  • Monitor operation and machine displays to detect malfunctions.
  • Operate machines and measure parts for conformity with specifications.
  • Diagnose faults, analyse, and improve programs and methods to increase machine efficiency and/or reduce risk of non-conformance.
  • Concise and accurate record keeping including ensuring the integrity of the technical database.
  • Perform routine daily/weekly machine and factory maintenance tasks.
  • Participation in relevant training as required.
  • Participation in and contribution towards continuous improvement activities.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum of 2 years CNC programming, setting and operating experience on Fanuc based multi-axis CNC lathes and turn-mill machines.
  • Be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • At least HNC/HND or similar qualification in a mechanical engineering or equivalent discipline (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of using Mastercam
