Job Description
FUNCTION:
Full time, permanent position based at Portsmouth Naval Base.
The Cost Control Engineer will join a thriving and dynamic team providing commercial support across a multitude of trades supporting the upkeep and maintenance of Warships at Portsmouth Naval Base. These trades include scaffolding, blasting and painting, lagging, cleaning and flooring services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities will include the following,
· Optimise commercial performance through diligent cost control and value for money opportunities, whilst achieving the required standards and quality for our customers
· Create and maintain commercial relationships to both internal and external stakeholders
· Contract administration with both client and subcontractors
· Analyse the annual budget in line with actual cost
· Prepare and present weekly job cost data analysis
· Review of ‘work in progress’ levels with trade leads following through to final invoicing
· Review of and recovery of aged debt
· Preparation and Production of Client SLA monthly Metric reports
· Review and update of monthly forecasts
· Review and support with monthly trading packs
- Subcontractor account management – variation and payments
· Providing commercial support and guidance to trade leads
- Ensure site team compliance with Company commercial policies and procedures
EXPERIENCE / EXPECTATIONS & QUALIFICATIONS:
· Should have a practical, logical and methodical approach to thinking and problem solving.
· Experience of collating costs and maximising value
· Possess excellent communication skills
- Demonstration of working to deadlines, working efficiently and to a high standard
· Be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. Experience in Power BI would also be beneficial but not essential.
- BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent level of education or experience
· Maintain a Personal Development Plan
· Experience of working as part of a team
· Experience of Marine industry would be an advantage but not essential
